Dear Eddie, I too feel that youths here are being apathic and ignorant. I have been studying the youth society in NTU for sometime, and it seems very obvious to me that many of them have no idea how much they do not know. Not only that, some tend to think they have enough maturity and knowledge to handle problems in life.

As to JT's comment, I would like to state that even if Gates and SIm are not in whatever percentile that is, they have a lot of knowledge in their field. They aren't like many youths. They are aware things, they have self control and drive to succeed

The view here certainly represents one perspective. We should not forget other important factors. Who would have thought people like Bill Gates and Sim Wang Hoo (I may have spelled his name wrongly, my apologies) who may not be in the top 20 percentile to be able to make such significant contributions and achievements. People must feel that they are empowered to achieve and that is a little lacking in Singapore due to a number of reasons. The enrionment must enabling and encouraging so that our youth can see that the world is their oyster.
