Hi Singapore Elections!

I do read your blog =) It does indeed contain a lot of election news. I do apologize for not mentioning it as my article was not focused on election blogging.

Unlike the ST, I have also talked about the improvement in political discussion online. Besides mentioning George Yeo and p65, I did mention a number of opposition websites and socio-political blogs.

Hi Dr Huang!

Indeed the government has become more responsive to the youth. However, are these responds merely short term wayang? Only time and the quality of their responds would tell. I think I will adopt a "wait and see" attitude".

It's nice how a little competition can spur organizations and bureaucracies to do this. Thus more political and intellectual competition can only lead to even greater benefits for all Singaporeans!

Love, Charissa

This the type of condescending year-end reviews you're used to getting from the Channel News Asia (but even they had the cheek to mention Singapore Election Watch), but as infuriating as it seems, this isn't a piece from their gutter.

You aimed to put the election as the top priority of 2006 without a slight mention of the most comprehensive election blog - Singapore Election Watch. FYI, we had received a total of 174,297 page visits in the month of May, from 102,425 visitors. This peaked to a total of 20 537 page loads on May 6th, from 10 602 unique visitors. In addition, we authored the petition fighting for James Gomez, which garnered 2257 signatories.

Yet, Charissa fails to send even a whisper in our direction.

But she's all applause in regards to p65.sg and George Yeo! These are personal blogs that don't strive to inform Singaporeans of policies undertaken by the Government! In fact, they're just a waste of net-space!

Perhaps the most outrageous thing to have been committed, has been her belligerent neglect in mentioning Dr. Chee Soon Juan and the SDP.

Charissa does a year-end review that fails to take note of the activities conducted in the year in question! How characteristically similar to the Straits Times' amnesiac tendencies!

FYI, Singapore Election Watch covered the Hong Lim Speakers Corner protest and the biggest humiliation of the PAP on an international level, Freedom Walk, Night Vigils, etc. etc. All of which carefully removed from this gutter-piece, but which received tremendous traffic on our site.

Hi Charissa,
Happy New Year,
Thanks for your mention.
I hope to justify the faith you have in my contribution to Singapore's blogosphere.
There is still lots to do.
Having said that, the govt has raised the bar. They are becoming very responsive to the young ( and isn't that what competition is all about?).
Charissa, all of us can play a significant role, as long as we don't become too cynical.

Cheers
