That's why I never look up our ministers except those like Doctor Tan Cheng Bok who really speaks out of his own mind and for the people. With the kind of high pay and "everything is nicely paved" system, you can expect what kind of people who would want to be a minister or to join the ruling party. And naturally, after these people become a minister, they will not speak up of their own minds or go against their master in order to keep their million dollars or achieve their pay hike. This can be proven during the recent debate on the budget and GST hike. All our ministers were so touched by the proposed budget and GST hike until I believe they would want to shed their tears of joy for it. And trust me, even after they receive their millions pay hike, they would still solve problems by increasing the costs of everything that we all have to pay. I see this pay increase policy and other policies like foreign talents, increase population, upgrading for votes, etc, as "PAP's political strategy".
