tell you all a secret, our power plants are running well below our max. capacity of about 12 Giga Watts!!! total power our power stations are generating is only about 5.5 Giga Watts. Think is per month, not sure.

We are heading for castastrope, this is no doubt. our own country is sucking our blood, CPF, COE, electrical tariff second highest in the world when we are using mostly natural gas, HDB...

I think its time to bring a change in the government, make them hear our voices and take our grievances seriously.

Hello Sze Hian,

Singapore is not a perfect place but there far more imperfect places on earth. I think Singaporean needs to put things in prespective when complaining.

1. Lower income suffering - I am with you on this one and think Singapore needs to address this, primarily through anti discrimination (age, sex) laws and a protection of local employments.

2. HDB Reposess - have you check out US and UK repossession stats that are far higher
than Singapore. Reposession hearing are being advertised in dozens at a time in Malaysian news paper as well.

3. UK gas and electric prices went up something like 30% last year (just started to come down) due to underinvestment of gas pipeline. So, again Singapore is not doing too badly against
its previous master.

4. Medical - well, better than UK NHS where you cannot even get a treatment without waiting
for months. In US, unless you have health insurance, the hospital won't even treat you.

7. Of course consumption as a % of GDP falls as income increases and basic necessities (food etc) prices fell as a % of income. As other luxury consumption, the Western consumers are now
trying to work through their credit card and Home Equity Withdrawal led consumption hangover.

8. Household wealth - I think Singapore is doing pretty well as US most household networth excluding their home actually fell and saving rates goes -ve.

9. Prisoners count - Well, Singapore is among the few developed world that actually
jail people who are threat to the society. UK prison would have exploded 10 times
over if they have the same toughness in sentencing as Singapore.

15. Lowest income - I agree that Singapore government can do more. But also, watch this
space as Western government becomes bankrupt due to all these unfunded and unaffordable
pension liabilities.

Wow1 You have 5 degrees! I am impressed! I only have one degree and one teaching diploma and I am tired of studying already! However, I like reading very much, and like a book worm will devour books and anything that has prints on it.

Keep blogging! Thanks for the opportunity to learn from you.

Main problem is the degree holders and the general workers. Many managers don't treat their fellow workers well, so tension in work place is very depressing. This is what the PAP mentality do to opposition.

Turnover in many companies is high. But it seems this problem of managing workers is still along way to go. If the mentality of PAP is like this, what do you expect the managers to behave. They follow examples before their eyes.
