Getting over the top salaries + pension, for giving non-answers. This has got to be a dream come true for anyone. Can we blame them for being so defensive with regards to their continued hold on power? I guess outdoor sports activities, CNY processions, Chingay and other public events will also be deemed as potential breaches of public order? This leads to a logical conclusion that street soccer courts should be demolished along with basketball courts and badminton courts. A good example would be:I'm playing soccer with my chums, some other group may come up to us and debate on our positioning strategy or our allegiance to particular football clubs. Disagreement occurs and a violation of public order ensues.Frankly if Singaporeans are so fond of debate why is Hong Lim Park so deserted?!

There must be intellectual discourse and room for dissent. In short Singaporeans must learn to agree to disagree.

Prof Ho mentions:
“You may be well behaving, but there may be other people whom you come across when you cycle who may stop you, may want to debate with you and that may attract a crowd, therefore will result in problems the police want to avoid.”

Does that mean that this do not happen with PAP ? It seem that from the comment, PAP either doesn't like debate or people don't bother to debate with PAP because there's really no point because policy simply force down your throat with ridculous laughable reasons.

Isn't debate make a vibrant city and make Singapore a city of possibilities ?

Sure, the gov perhaps want to let us know that if you want to debate about politics, you have to be a politican, and unless you are PAP cronies, than you are liable to be sue by what you say, fact or no fact. Whereas if you are part of PAP cronies, you are protected by the law that nothing will happen to you if you say wrong thing, and you don't even need to apology if you mislead the public with weird statistic that are half-truth. And if feel threaten, simply come out extra law for protection of gahmen. Even George Bush will laugh at Singapore parliament ! So easy to come out law just like changing underwear.

Yes, people do have short memory, but these memory will be recorded down in history for future to ridicule the cronies's regime. Not only the gov make the mockery of people, they also make mockery of themselves.

And sure, you means just after round of salary increment to civil servant, they still can't manage a simple crowd ? YOu means we need to continue to PayAndPay higher salary to these people to not only gain moral authority and also to strength their passion and job ability ? In that case, why not outsource the police force as well, and ministers in charge as well ? We might save millions to help the poor then !
