Yes,Mahathir is the one who curb all the 9 kings back then.He wants them to be involoved in their royal duties not politics.
Past months and after reading from M’sian blogs,it seems to me the kings have increasingly voiced their disagreement over certain policies.
Malays in Malaysia in fact see the kings highly.Anything that go against the wishes of kings,to the malays is an insult.
Over the case,of the chief minister of Trengganu,only now he decide to confront the king.
Certain country like Japan/Thailand one have one king.
Whereas,for the case of M’sia they have nine kings and it’s quite a headache though.

I notice that the kings is against the govt though.
Now the m’sian king (current trengganu king) is having a wrangling war over the choice of chief minister with Abdullah Badawi.
By constituiton,the king have no political power,BUT the king can in fact for a general re-election if all fails.

It’s too early to say.

It may be the dawn of a better future for all Malaysians but
I think the road is a very long and winding one,
with huge obstacles, booby-traps and minefields laid
along the way for those who are brave (or fool-hardy) enough
to walk along this path.

I see bloodshed, sacrifices, upheaval and turmoils before any
significant change can take place.

Remember the Kings (Sultans) are coming out to exert their
influence and are subtly exercising their powers to “over-ride”
and “short-circuit” the system and the power that be.

There are three factors that the Opposition has to content with:

1. The Kings.
2. The Muslims – Islam.
3. The Malays.

Can Anwar or anyone else overcome these three stumbling blocks?

Malaysian Malaysia ? Not likely ! In a Muslim country – the Muslim citizen is accorded with more rights than the Non-Muslim citizen. All it takes is another Lina Joy to destroy the Barisan Alternatif of Anwar Ibrahim.

Besides, the Malaysian Malays have become very dependent on the NEP and the Ketuanan Melayu. They will not give it up so easily just because Anwar Ibrahim says so.
