It might as well have been said by any politician from the opposition.

im disgusted at the way our govt response to the criticism. Instead of humbly taking the criticism in stride, they turn around and deemed it as a threat. But do they know the real threat is the PAP who rules which no regards for the people. LKY used international reports as a defence in his case with Chee to his advantage , but when the reports are to his disadvantage, he deemed them as useless and even totally invalid. Wat a double standard, does he tink singaporeans are reali idiots or waT?
Andrew Loh
Jack,
I agree with you. I think part of being a ‘gracious society’ – something which the govt itself has declared it wants – is to accept criticism graciously. I think Lee Kuan Yew fails in this many times. Perhaps he does not believe – like the govt does – that a gracious society can be attained.
His behaviour during the 2006 elections confirms for me that LKY behaves like this because he believes he is untouchable. After all, when was the last time there was a contest in Tanjong Pagar GRC? One of his members in that GRC has never – yes, never – contested an election. Yet, he has been an MP for 6 terms.
What’s even more strange to me is that LKY himself cited the praise that the IBA had given the S’pore judicial system last year as a sort of vindication of how well the govt has done. Yet, now he – and his govt – is lambasting the same IBA for making recommendations to improve our rule of law and human rights.
I think it is quite clear that the govt only wants to hear the good stuff – like in that commercial for a radio station not too long ago.
Even NMP Siew Kum Hong finds this funny – Live by the sword, die by the sword?”
Conjob
LKY has this belief that anything against him should be considered as against Singapore. The perceived conspiracy is actually all in the old man’s mind and the bootlickers are doing him a disfavour by agreeing with him. lol
Singaporeans however have the right to assume that there is a conspiracy to turn their country into Singapore Inc.
They need to wake up and do something about it soon because at this rate they will not have a country in future. The rest of the world will view them as employees of Singapore Inc.

Dear MM Lee Kuan Yew;
The World and Singaporeans are conspiring against Singapore! FOR WHAT ?Sir.
WHERE ARE YOUR PROOF? Dear MM Lee
patriot.

‘My question is to them, have you ever run Singapore? Do you know how we got here? What were we? What we are now? And how we can become better?

Germany Social Democrat Party was founded in the 19th Century – about 1885 – by artisans. And after WW1 in 1919, they were not ready to grasp political power, They need to compromsie with their enemy – capitalists and bourgeiosie.
They compromsie in implementing social politiceis rather than socialisation the nation.
They started educaiton classes, sport clubs and cultural clubs……and almost destroyed by National Socialist Party.
They survived a long journey from Bernstein to Brandt.
What make him so cocksure that opposiiton like WP, SDP and Reform Party will not follow the same path as those skilled artisans and manual workers, willing to endure, to educate their members, ready for the long haul, discovered their ideology like with idealogues like Eduard Bernstein, and eventually developed a leader like WIlly Brandt?
Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands survived Bismarck, Marxism, Bolshevism, WW1, National socialist Party, WW2.
let’s hope politiical opposiiton needs not wait till 2108 to survive PAP, Lee Kuan Yew to gain political ascendry.
You need to find your “Eduard Bernstein”, yoru own “Willy Brandt”.
Chee Soon Juan and Co is behaving exactly like Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, both assassinated during the Kapp Putsch in March 1920.
JB Jeyaretnam is now like Bebel, re-uniting the fractious opposiiton into a single unit.
The first step is to emulate what Germany SDP did – start education centres, cultural club, sport clubs to educate Singaporeans and to woo them.
it may taken a hundred years, but it is worth it.

I liked what patriot asked. I shall also ask the same questions: conspiracy against Singapore for what purpose? What do they stand to gain? Where is the proof?

This by far, is THE biggest pile of BullCrap I have ever read, from him.
“A threat”..?
The diagnosis of Schizophrenia is accurate. This symptom is very classic.

.. I believe Dr Chee had a severe bout of laughter & have fallen off his chair by now after reading the article…
RH: “The primal fear of superior minds”? Except that LIE KY is no superior mind. Quite the opposite, in fact. It is HE who fears others.

wonder who is more pathetic…King Lear or Lee…………………..
Desperate times call for desperate measures eh?

All of this signifies the beginning of the end for the PAP.
Guys, don’t be too quick to make judgement.
A teacher once walked into the classroom and drew a dot with a black marker on the whiteboard and asked the students, “what do you see”.. Everybody answered “A black dot’ in unison.
The teacher, acting surprised, said, ” Didn’t anyone see the whiteboard where the dot was drawn?”
We should not only focus the bad things that happen, and forget the many good things that have been brought to us.
I’m no government spokesperson, but I do think that we have them to owe to for today’s success.

Same arguments, aren’t they? Some logic and same lies!
Paul
Geobbels in 1933
“The Versailles treaty of non-peace stood in its way. Need, unemployment, desperation and decay accompanied it through all its ups and downs. An over-refined democratic parliamentarianism, which today seems almost grotesque, found its last and highest expression. It provided the stage on which National Socialism rose to power. We told our opposition often enough that although we were using its weapons and rules for our purposes, we had nothing intellectually or politically in common with them. To the contrary, our goal was use these means to put and end to them and their methods, to finally eliminate their theories and policies. Both in theory and practice, National Socialism opposes liberalism.
Just as liberalism after the French Revolution had various effects on every nation and people, depending on their nature and character, the same is true today for the forces that oppose it. German democracy was always a particular playground of European liberalism. Its innate tendency towards excessive individualism was foreign to us, which lost it any connection to real political life after the war. It had nothing to do with the people. It represented not the totality of the nation, but turned into a perpetual war between interests that gradually destroyed the national and social foundations of our people’s existence.
National Socialism was able to overcome this condition of continual spiritual, economic, and political crises only because the German people themselves regained their composure, and found a political idea and organization that corresponded to the character of the German nation. Nation Socialism is a completely German phenomenon.”
Paul
Again Goebbels in early 1939:
“The American press seems to have the right to complain about Europe. It makes vigorous use of this right, particularly when Germany is involved. National Socialist Germany is a thorn in its eye.
The Third Reich has been the target of its mockery, hatred, lies, and slander since 30 January 1933, especially from that part controlled by the Jews. The American press takes particular pleasure in criticizing Germany on grounds of humanitarianism, civilization, human rights, and culture. It has every right to do so. Its humanity is shown by lynchings. Its civilization is shown in economic and political scandals that stink to high heaven. Its human rights are displayed by eleven or twelve million unemployed, who apparently chose to be so. And its culture exists only because it is always borrowing from the older European nations. Such a nation is certainly justified in sneering at ancient Europe, whose nations and peoples looked back on centuries, even millennia of cultural achievements long before America was discovered.
The American press replies to our complaints by saying that it has nothing against Germany, only against National Socialism. That is a poor excuse. National Socialism today is Germany’s guiding political idea and worldview. The entire German nation affirms it. To criticize National Socialism today therefore means to criticize the entire German nation.
It will not do to say that National Socialism is a dictatorship, and that there are still many in Germany who, inwardly at least, reject it. That simply is not the case. It is a fantasy that exists only in the minds of democratic politicians and journalists, but has nothing to do with the facts. There is no doubt about it: the public campaign against Germany is a conscious and intentional provocation aimed at the German Reich and the German people.”

VIVA Mamma Mia!
By Sylvia Toh Paik Choo
13 July 2008
VIVA Mamma Mia!
“To Minister Mentor Lee’s inclination towards Sweden’s mode of mothering, I repeat, viva mamma mia!
When then-Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew initiated the idea of the Social Development Unit (SDU) all those decades ago, many eyeballs rolled skywards, and there were knowing sniggers aplenty – ‘Single Desperate Ugly’ (in the category for fastest acronym-ed joke, Singapore lifts the gold medal).
At source, I thought SDU was a brilliant move, projecting matchmaking into the 21st century long before its time, but did not give that thought voice, in case people called me a patsy (less nice-sounding than a sylvia).
MM Lee is an extraordinary leader among leaders, especially when it comes to being visionary. His speeches are never not read, his interviews never not watched, his opinions never not followed”
Paul
LKY is a genius, a unique word leader, a visionary according The New Paper . Except most of his arguments have been said before him… in Germany more than half a century ago for instead!

Keyvn,
“but I do think that we have them to owe to for today’s success.”
This statement would be valid 20 years ago when the old guard ministers put nation before self. Singaporeans could see it clearly and gave them resounding support.
Times have changed but the people in charge have changed even more, that Singaporeans can’t reconcile with them anymore. Have you ever wondered why all the old guard ministers had stepped down long ago and yet, there is this self installed minister who still holds court in Singapore?
Singaporeans are made to believe that we have the best talent in office and that mulit-million pays are necessary to induce, attract and retain them to serve. At the same time, we are made to believe that mentoring these top talents is necessary too. Isn’t this laughable when hired CEO grade officers still need to be mentored? Only blind faith can’t separate this illogical and despicable manipulation of power retention.
Lets not take away credit where credit is due. It was through common sacrifices and collective efforts of Singaporeans (including you) that take us to where we are today, not PAP’s policies alone.
If LKY cannot produce a legitimate copy of the IBA letter that he proclaimed in his trial against CSJ, it will prove that he is a great liar who will stoop to any methods to win. This is probably a deceptive ploy of him citing conspiracy.
A robber spotted by the police crying “Robbery!”.
Paul
Rudolf Hess in 1934:
“Someone may say that it is not good to put all power in one hand, since Adolf Hitler might use his authority arbitrarily and thoughtlessly!
To that I can only say: The conscience of a moral personality is a far greater protection against the misuse of an office than is the supervision of parliament or the separation of powers. I know no one who has a stronger conscience, or is more true to his people, than Adolf Hitler.
Over the years I have seem him struggle to make difficult decisions, always checking again and again with the experts in the field until he was certain that his decision was absolutely correct. I know how many sleepless nights his decision to take Germany out of the League of Nations cost him, how he listened to all who had objections. I know that he was unable to rest until he had refuted them by clear logic. Only then did he decide, and accepted the full responsibility.
The Führer’s highest court is his conscience and his responsibility to his people and to history.
He will also from time to time allow the people itself to pass judgment on his general policy. This will regularly reaffirm his leadership.
He knows that both his honor and his work are at risk. He cannot pass the responsibility for his decisions to irresponsible parliamentary majorities, as do the statesmen of all other nations. That also means that his freedom of action is not restricted or watered down by parliamentary bodies or other forces. This above all is why in desperate times people and nations need an absolute leader — assuming he possesses the necessary abilities — and why such a leader can be necessary to the continued existence of the government and people.”
Paul,
Yes. He is no visionary more like a copy cat. A good FAT copy cat. Leader like him is a big joke and is really mocking all citizens. We are like idiots with no brain of our own, everything he said is the law and he loves to claim representation of the people with his PAP superiority. I say this supremacy will not be long. Singaporeans are sick of his antics and despicable doing to opposition leaders. He is quite close to mugabe less the bloody violence.
Old fart has to ask himself how long more can he live? Why not do something really wonderful and leave with a good name? Leaving a good name all singaporeans will remember him fondly as a humble, forgiving, big heart, genuine leader and wants no benefits gained from his power over the decades. A true hero like deng xiaoping? I guess he doesn’t know he is blinded by power all this time and losing it is really unbecoming.
Support: WEAR Black this national day!

Why LKY is against what he calls a “liberal democracy”? Because one of the decisive rules of a “liberal democracy” is the freedom of press. Why LKY doesn’t support a free press? Because a free press might check his words and prove he is a liar…
A “non liberal democracy” concept is a self serving. We could include his fat monthly checks as a Mentor and Chairman of GIS as well as the fortune of his whole family. By the way the “honest” and “clean” LKY has never disclosed his personal wealth…. In a “liberal democracy” those questions will be aired… But in a “non liberal democracy” asking those questions send you right away in front of a court for defamation. We should “trust” our leaders, we should have “faith” on theirs characters. They are never lie, they speak only the truth and they are so honest. Above all we should never ask any disturbing questions and be grateful.
Paul
We should wear black… shirt! Or may be a brown shirt!
In Span there was a Caudillo, in Italy a “Duce”, in Germany a Fuhrer, in Romania a “Condutor”…. As those titles were already taken, we have a “Mentor”.
TheOwl
Dear MM,
There is no conspiracy to do Singapore in. You are feeling very guilty about many things that point to you and your paranoia is so evident. Being a scare mongerer can back fire if you overdo this trick. You can end up being scared of those around you and may end up being scared of your own shadow.
Go ahead and celebrate this national day without me and other citizens. I view it as Singapore Inc. function. Like other citizens , I will wear BLACK and use the day to reflect on how we can make this our country. I wish to let the opposition know that I am with them and their sacrifice is worth the while. It is also a message to concerned foreigners that there are citizens in Singapore worth helping. I wish to thank IBAHRI for being objective with their assessment on Singapore’s judiciary, although I feel IBAHRI were somewhat accomodating.
May I suggest to IBAHRI that they organise a live telecast on the major television networks for you to engage them. Nelson Mandela, Chia Thye Poh, Francis Seow, Tang LH, JBJ, and CSJ will be the other invited guests. And by the way, IBAHRI should graciously allow you to have Davinder and Belinda tag along.

“but I do think that we have them to owe to for today’s success.”
that could be said for Qing dynasty, Suharto, Ferdinand Marcos and other dictators ?

To The Owl – Well said!!
It is really hillarious that our beloved Minister Mentor can’t even decide who is for him and who is against him. He should really make up his mind about IBA before saying anything more. I think the web of logic is so convoluted that I am sure even the PAP die hards will find it difficult to follow let alone understand.
Somebody said that “First thing you do to get out of a hole is to stop digging.” How true!
Harrison, agreed with you. Please don’t get me wrong though, I am not saying they should take the sole claim for credit in making SIngapore where she is today.
However, I maintain my stand that the govt plays a significant role.
TImes might have changed, but the knowledge that is accumulated over the years will be helpful, in bringing the country to the next level. Of course, we should not focus only on our pedigree, but really, take what’s been said into consideration and make a logical, rational decision on how to move forward.
Best.
RH: Dear brilliant Paul, you have illuminated this Comment section with your insightful and incisive quotes of Goebbels, New Paper, etc. Thanks a million for your erudition.
1. Obviously, LIE KY is just another common criminal dictator, mouthing age-old dictatorisms from Hitler, Goebbels, etc, and trying, like them, to create a Thousand-Year-Reich, or Dynasty. I have written on this in :
The Unchanging Nature of Dictatorships.
[Comments edited by moderator].
RH: Note that my comments edited [deleted] are entirely a paste of my article now given in the link “The Unchanging Nature of Dictatorships”. Thanks.
Paul
LKY’ s ideology is a mixture of the most British reactionary ideas from 19th Century (Social darwinism, racialism, elitism), the rule by fear of the Japanese Imperial Army during WW2 and the manipulative technics of Stalinism. He belongs to the far right.
Harrison
Singapore will still steam ahead without PAP. There are ample talented Singaporeans who do not agree with what PAP is doing. It’s a matter of principle and not a matter of lack of talents as what LKY wants Singaporeans to believe.
The tumours must be decisively removed in order to rid the body of cancer before becoming terminal.
Here’s my article to his nonsense:
http://www.fu-singapore.uni.cc/politicians/singapore_falls_short_on_rights.html
China is a communist country. Russa was a communist country. They are picking up pointers from us? What does that tell about Singapore?
By the way, they don’t call it ‘lying’, they call it ‘inaccuracy in statement’. How lovely.
Paul
“liying” is for the opposition, an “inaccuracy in statement” is reserved to the one in power. There is no truth in such world. Only the one in power has the authority to decide what is the truth. Therefore as all alternative opinions are “lie” they deserve to be destroyed ( “rebutted” as it said in Singapore). It is why such system is called an authoritarian system.
Paul
Don’t worry follows! There is a way to offset all losses in those carefully crafted investments (Merrill Lynch, UBS…). Each time a newspaper will publish a story like “Sing investment get sour”, the Gament will sue for defamation and our independent Judiciary will fined for “insinuation”. The so-called “Western liberal press” will pay for our retirement.! What a chance to be ruled by the “best and the brightest”!

Dear LKY,
It’s time to see a psychiatrist to treat your schizoprenia and psychosis. It is observed that the symptoms are deteriorating rapidly and bitter medicine is very much necessary to prevent you from turning into a psychopath.
Dr Chee Soon Juan is a recommended cure for you for he knows your history very well and has the confidence of arresting your advancing condition. Should medicine be too late to be a remedy, Dr Lee Wei Ling is on standby to perform neurological surgery on your troubled brains.
In the event that all these measures failed, IMH has a special cell for VIP live-in guest. There will be no shortage of members joining your party there.
Meanwhile, Singaporeans will pray that your undue worries be laid to rest which will allow them to lead much better and healthy lives.
AMEN!
