TOC now on Facebook
In Events & Announcements • 1,169 views • 2 Comments
The Online Citizen is happy to announce that we are now on Facebook. Thanks to our friend Zak, you can now be a friend of TOC and get to know the people and events behind TOC a bit more.
We envision TOC Facebook to be a sort of ‘backroom’ to this website – a place where we share stories of some of the things we do behind what you see here. For example, we have a more intimate write-up about our recent barbeque and our regular TOC editors’ meeting. We hope it’ll give you, our readers, a closer look at what it takes to keep TOC running.
So please come join us, be a friend of TOC!

The media treatment of Mr Tan Lead Shake is deplorable. While he is suffering an indescribable personal tragedy, he is derisively called “slipper man” whenever there is a story about the ongoing investigation of the killing of his younger brother. Invariably each story also mentions that he is an opposition party member. This gratuitous repetition of his political affiliation and his indelicate wearing of slippers while filing his nomination for an election many years ago is unkind, unfeeling and ingratiating to the PAP leadership (I think some of them, fair and decent, cringe at such such obsequious tack). If Lead Shake were a PAP cadre, would the media have written
PAP cadre Tan Lead Shake…” each time it reports on the tragedy?
