Oh man dear Singaporeans, y'all are so judgmental of your superbly efficient and effective government.

Perhaps you guys do not have enough global insight, and instead of dwelling on more imminent problems, you dwell on petty little things that the government are more than capable of handling.

I urge you to take a look at what the PAP is doing for the country, instead of continually criticizing, which seems to be a Singaporean culture, especially when it comes to the PAP, a large majority of netizens always seem to be in opposition. Perhaps when the Opposition wins one day (hopefully it never happens), then Singapore will realize how great the PAP was.

Fyi, MPs definitely do not get multi-million salaries. They only get allowances that are even taxed! These allowances are in relation to how much they spend on transport etc as a MP. It is only a nominal sum. And I believe Ministers more than deserve their pay. Singapore has such a clean record, that in itself is something to be proud of. Singapore's defense force (so much behind the scenes I believe, that we cannot see and know about for our own protection) and Singapore's stunning Education system and great public transport system... Singapore's cleanliness and how the government constantly upgrades everything, from policies to buildings to schools... and how Singapore is always there for its people. That is something Singaporeans have to realize, and that is something Singaporeans must learn to appreciate.

Criticism is okay, as long as it is constructive. Why do y'all like to put down people in higher positions? Because you cannot make it there, ever? Or because you find joy in stamping on other people's confidence? Either way, it makes you look like a very ugly person. Find beauty in everything. The term 'Ugly Singaporeans' come about because Singaporeans find fault in anything and everything. Even the most perfect countries and its policies will look terrible under the scrutiny and sarcasm of a large number of Singapore netizens.

Dear Mr Cedric Foo,

You have conveniently ignored the fact that capital expenditure on trains and buses is part and parcel of the business cost. Given the blessed monopoly, Singaporeans certainly expect first rate service and quality from the blessed transport operator at affordable rates.

We, Singaporeans, cannot reconcile the fact that we, the taxpayers, who funded the capital for the public transport infrastructure, are expected to let the transport company shareholders reap attractive returns at our expense. The most ironic of all is the fact that Temasek Holdings and DBS Nominees Pte Ltd own a combined 62.44% of the shareholding in SMRT.

Judging from the many questionable and bad foreign investments by Temasek, we can conclude that only investments in Spore companies enjoying monopoly can reap superlative returns. This is no doubt made possible by the ruling govt where the apex of power belongs to one family.

The biggest irony of all is that our highly self-proclaimed ministers are only good at milking money from Singaporeans with their crap policies to justify their multi-million pays.

The greatest irony will be reserved for Singaporeans who still believe totally in the PAP govt and is most ironic to those who have been opposing.

When we pay monkeys peanuts we get monkey business. We pay million dollar salary to minister we get million dollar problems with no solution in sight. SBS and SMRT wants good returns and at the same time no competition. These has become a chronic problem. Public transport getting less efficient and becoming more costly for commuters. Where is the competition mentioned when they privatized public transport and tout to all commuters higher efficiency, better service and reasonable price. I cant imagine to count the no. of fares increases that had gone by even when oil is at dirt cheap price during the last decade. Fares never stop increasing when operators never lost a penny in their operation and in fact earning more profits. Such RUBBISH from PTC and gahmen should cease less more and more sinkies will start to protest on rising cost of transport.

solution very simple waht. just change the operators lor. there will always be some foreign talented operators who will be happy with the returns local operators are "unsatisfied" with.

case close. and i don't need multi-million $$$ salary for solving this problem.
