I think someone should remind the minister that it was S’pore which let Mas Selamat slipped through its hands initially when the 13 or so JI suspects were rounded up.

It was later that the Indonesians captured him.

Mas Selamat was then HANDED over to Singapore.

Singapore then let him escape in February this year.

When have we “done it before”? The only thing we have “done before” was to let him escape – TWICE!

Wong Kan Seng doesn’t seem to be very good in his job – or at least in knowing what is going on around him.

The words “we have done it before” betray a sense of =complacency=. Now where have I heard someone else using that word?

In such a context, the “we” could mean him, his Home Team and even “relevant foreign counterparts”

Strictly speaking, you do not go abroad to capture even your own people. You can’t do that. Countries as powerful as the US A have sought the help of national authorities in Pakistan, The Philippines and Indonesia to locate terrorist elements. You do, however, seek the help of foreign authorities to locate and repatriate a fugitive. That is your part in detaining those who plot acts against the state, your part in protecting national interests; that is how you find and capture the leader of a terrorist cell. I thought the minister spoke like a minister of the ministry.

I believe the Minister wishes he could simply say “We remain committed to finding and capturing Mas Selamat – as soon as we can possibly deliver” – which is perfectly acceptable to, and greatly desired by everyone (We cannot imagine any objections from anyone, to a swift capture of the fugitive, can we?) – but what we hear is a different choice of words. Is there something else Mr Wong wants to tell us? Because “no matter how long it takes” leaves too much to speculation and imagination.

“We have done it before.” is a worrying statement, if it is even meant to give any assurance, since the most recent “been there, done that” of MHA is the escape of MSK. Please (on our hands and knees), no, not that again.

Aiyoh, please lah, don’t “lao kah kui kor, again, lah” meaning ” sh!tting all over your pants” aka “embarass yourself further with dumb arrogance”!

I’ve written that the MHA should not bring Mohammed Hassan, the alleged Singaporean bomb-maker captured by the Indonesian authorities, back to Singapore. If Mas Selamat (who allegedly escaped) is found in Indonesia, I strongly advise the MHA to leave him there. Don’t act smart “keh kiang” again and ask for extradition! I think enough is enough!

Let’s follow the good old LKY’s “Stop at Two” policy! No, not the Family Planning thingy lah, I mean the two escapes! One alleged at Whitley Detention Camp and the other at the Subordinate Courts.

The Indonesians are so good at arresting them and we are so good at letting them escape!

From above, we should learn that self-proclaimed First World Singapore is good at certain stuff while our neighbours are efficient at others :)
