this country should be renamed sinpratapura…”peng lai peng ker” Isn’t it stupid to force them to serve when their hearts are elsewhere…and what about national security? can someone put a prata on that Mr. Wong’s whatever his name face?

I am still convinced that to make me give birth, I’ll migrate 1st so that my sons do not need to go thru NS. You never know. One day girls will also be asked to do NS.

Is this 1 of the reasons why birthrates are very low? Like that give birth to girls better. No need to waste 2 damn years in that god-forsaken dump NS. Most people are “forced” to go NS, not like you, Colonel, who is very patriotic i believe.

“One day girls will also be asked to do NS.” Problem solved ! They should share the same compound with male so as to produce more babies, no need for incentives anymore, and no more excuses for gov for another GST hike to help MAKE BABIES.

I think TOC should create a HALL OF SHAME segment so that thru the years we can educate our children, grand children…etc not to commit the same faux pas!

Privileges of serving National Service follow by helping in the economic progresses of this tiny red dot. After that, though not a neccessity, privilege to glorify the Leadership.
Never ending privileges available if YOU ARE SINGAPOREANS, thanks to our leaders!

all lies. We are in this situation, that we are trying to renounce our citizenship because we left at a very young age (1 year old).
priviliges are: doing studies/work in Singapore, get IC etc.
we did not take any of those ‘priviliges’ but still are stuck with the SG passport and banned from coming back. or await an arrest upon reaching SG.
so…what to do ey…byebye SG
I don’t think it is fair to interpret this quote out of context. We should look into the context of the Straits Times Article “Give up citizenship? Do NS first” dated 25 August 2008 which it came from. Firstly, this ST article is blatant media manipulation to stir public opinion against the Norwegian Bugge brothers. It grossly misrepresented a PR policy irregularity as a NS liability. Given that babies are unable to make an informed decision, it is only fair that they inherit their citizenship from their father and have the option to adopt Singapore citizenship. In fact, the Singapore citizenship should be conferred just before enlistment to NS and not packaged as a reward after serving NS. After all, citizenship is a duty, not a reward or incentive.
bs.
thank you singapore for lettin us foreigners spy on your country’s military.
we will be treated as heroes back in our country when a war breaks out.

“enjoyed the privileges of singapore citizenship. ”
what exactly are the things that are privileges of singapore citizenship? even 1 second of having enjoyed the privileges count or not? enjoy up to how long and what kinds of privileges? I am just curious.
using the passport to go overseas for whatever reason?
What else?
When I go to malaysia for fun, I also enjoyed the privilege of entering their country.
