I concur that I would have put my life on the line to defend this country……………
the true test that we have arrived as a nation is when the majority feels this way.
It sickens me to see the country being run by the present bunch of politicians.
All those years I put in, is not for these politicians to set their own agenda.
The anthem, flag , pledge, and 9th Aug is meaningless to me.
I love Our Flag, Our Anthem, Our Pledge and Our Country.
My love will stay forever.
The anthem, flag , pledge, and 9th Aug
Take them back!! Take them back for ourselves, for our children!!
Stand up for OUR COUNTRY
Make the Anthem, Flag , Pledge, and National Day meaningful again.
Stand up for OUR COUNTRY

[...] Our Flag, Our Anthem, Our Pledge [...]
this flag has no meaning for me. …. till you so call leader do what is being preach in the pledge. you people only good at doing surface work to show the world how united we are.
I love my country and my people, as for the rich gahmen their love for money is an addiction. We are numbers only. This NDP i shall wear black all day.
I’ve an old blog post about our Singapore flag…
Read http://vacuumstate.blogspot.com/2007/08/singapores-42th-birthday.html
Singapore is OUR country.
Don’t give up.
Don’t stop loving it.
9th August to me is PAP day. I cannot bring myself to celebrate with them because doing so means I endorse their policies and the manner they run the country.
The PAP’s policies and actions contradict the notion of nation buiding. To get back on track in nation building , we need to put them out of business……..
the anthem, flag and pledge will become meaningful to the people again.
Singaporeans should support a new political party if the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) is no longer the best vehicle to take the country forward, said Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo.

Mr Yeo was speaking to students at a dialogue session at the Singapore Polytechnic on Friday.
They discussed issues such as inducting talent into politics and how the ruling party aims to win the votes of younger Singaporeans.
On that, Mr Yeo said the people must be clear about what they hope to see in the future, before they decide on which party to support.
The foreign minister was also asked if the PAP is confident of winning back the opposition—held ward of Hougang in the next election.
Mr Yeo answered: “We should be quietly confident, but never take the voters for granted, and to work hard to serve them.
“The PAP must always have that spirit to want to serve the people of Hougang, believing that we can do better for them if we are in charge. That must always be our spirit, but of course, it’s for the people there to decide.”
Don’t worry, Emperor Yeo, the people are on the way to making it happen.
Talking like a little girl, “Don’t want me to be your friend, go find another friend loh!” A deep thinker my foot!
Didn’t anyone read the hidden threats behind SM Goh’s win back Hougang’s speech.
He is up to his dirty old trick again, increasing the number of GRCs members from current six to eight or nine or ten. Maybe whole Singapur become one big GRCs.
As for Georgie Yeo, I have never seen him so smug as now. He was wetting his pants over Gomez in the last election.
If all these dirty tricks don’t work, can always use the MM Lee’s Call in the Army and see who’s Boss.
refer to postings by @10, regarding G Yeo’s dialogue session with some students. The following are statements by G. Yeo
“The PAP must always have that spirit to want to serve the people of Hougang, believing that we can do better for them if we are in charge. ”
Georgie, you can’t be serious ! …….. What spirit ?
It is more like the PAP have this “mean spirit” to marginalize the opposition wards Potong Pasir and Hougang, rather than serving them. Goh C T wanted both wards to be slums as example to all Singaporeans supporting opposition.
Just brilliant for nation building !
Of course the PAP will do better in estate upgrading for Hougang !…… when you blokes from the PAP are controlling the public funds,………remember it is the people’s money Georgie !
“but never take the voters for granted and to work hard to serve them’
Really Georgie? How many of the PAP MPs in parliament can say that they have honestly represented the people, speaking out for them without fear and truly serving them ?
By the way Georgie, let’s not bother with the anthem, flag and pledge…….
Many of us are looking forward to hear the BS from our lame PM on 9th Aug.
14) “The PAP must always have that spirit to want to serve the people of Hougang, believing that we can do better for them if we are in charge. ”

The question I have after reading yeo’s comments is If funding is the same as that given to WP HG TC, I wonder how many more estate improvements can there be?
interesting , is it not?
Alas, george may never read my comments to be able to give a simple reply.
So, I hope the cyber people can forward my question to his next meet people session or when he drinks coffee with the young ones.
With the image of the national flag prominently displayed on this page, I think it is fitting to ask Singaporeons to ponder on this scenario.
The United Despotic Nations of the world decide to use their powers to force a country who is always quarreling with Singapore to settle their differences once and for all in a gladiator style contest. It will be winner takes all.
1000 able bodied men from each country picked at random through computer technology to ensure that man for man, they are of equal weight , height, size and fitness levels.
The contest will take place home and away like a football match, in their respective national stadiums. This is how the contest will be played out.
1000 men from each side will assemble on opposite ends of the stadium’s arena. Between then in the centre of the field would be a pile of 2000 parangs, knives, spears and other assortment of non firearms.
At the blow of a whistle, both sides are to rush to the centre and pick up what they can and fight for their lives. It must be a fight until there’s no one standing from the opposing side. I ask you. What do you think will be the outcome?
Whatever it is, I think F15s, F16s, stealth corvettes and leopard tanks are just a terrible waste of tax payers’ money.
I forgot to add one word. BACKBONE.
Singaporeans should support a new political party if the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) is no longer the best vehicle to take the country forward, said Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo.
even if opposition cannot form new government i will also like to have more opposition party in parliament to stop you people from suka suka create pro-government policy to dekan the people. also to keep check on sleeping backbench leaders from dosing off. looking forward to the day you people kena throw out of parliament and then i celebrate national day.

Who give Mr Yeo the right to go around as minister promoting his own PayAndPay party ? Thought that it is illegal to masquerade talk as political talk to promote one’s party ? Does kangaroo law exempted those from the ruling party ? Why is Mr Yeo who is using taxmoney and using working time to promote his own party ?
Mr Yeo,
Stop giving people empty dream. You should know better if it is possible under the Lee’s dynasty.
A nation with so many pretenders.
On this piece of land, many of us are squatters and some are just renting space from the old man to do their little business.
The anthem should be the corporate song, time to change the lyrics.
The flag should be the corporate logo, time to replace the moon and stars.
The pledge should be the motto for business, time to change the wordings.
we will let pap see who the real boss
everyone i myself will become a boss ceo manager once we vote for opposition partys
you know what ? some people will sell their soul & conscious for money & power. in singapore, i see alot of these sick people.
Mugabe of Zimbabwe is in town for his operation. Once again our Country welcomes dictators from all over the world e.g. Mymmar, North Korea, IRAN and Zimbabwe. Check out SDP website.
I will never celebrate NDP the north korea style, we are not brain wash citizens and Singapore is no Korea. To all those who attended NDP this year, you guys are hopeless and serve you right to be Tekan by gahmen. I love my country but really sad that the gahmen doesn’t. They love $$$.
No reason for fare hikes, minister’s pay hikes and utility (electricity costs alot more now) hikes. Hope less rite?
Support Black for NDP!

Once upon a time, these 5 values are held so dearly to most Singaporeans. We had given all we had and all we can to achieve the essence of these values. We were almost there.
Today, I speak for myself. These values are all but meaningless. Neither one are of its true essence that it is supposed to be. It is beyond recognition. You do not feel a strong sense of belonging anymore. You generally felt something is amidst. Something we knew should have change for the better. Yet, time and again, we were somehow deprived and can only watch helplessly. Sad indeed(sigh)
I notice flags are hung in 90% of all semi-d’s and bungalows as compared to HDBs, based on personal limited observation.
any one care to comment this phenomenon?
Singapore is only as 1st world as the Mentality of the Majority.
With time will maturity come.
We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one disunited people, dependent on whether you are rich or poor, PAP or anti-PAP, so as to achieve economic growth and economic growth and more economic growth, so that our Ministers can continue to pay themselves big fat pay-checks, and the understaffed law enforcement force have to shoulder the burden of keeping Singapore safe, because they just let a terrorist loose and noone is responsible. The ministers just majullah (move on) Singapore. You workers, better not ask for higher wages, because that will drive up inflation (despite the fact that the government drove it up by up ERP and up the transport hike, and up everything up Singaporeans’ asses and some Singaporeans are saying, What a nice place Singapore is).
When the distinction between a political party and a nation is no longer clear, patriotism is but a mere word used by those in power to subvert the notion of loyalty to the nation.
Singapore is not a bad place to live in afterall, serious. Where else you get summer all year round, clean water directly from the tap, bus drivers to ask you to move further in when it’s crowded, access to beach(es) within minutes of drive, people making comments about the political party without taking much action, increasing number of ERP gantries, a Prime Minister who upgraded himself to Senior Minister and then Minister Mentor, and who knows what’s next?
Hey, I’m going to watch the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony now.
JTYS

I watched the video with moist eyes. Moist eyes because once upon a time the flag meant something to me, enough for me to fight anyone who dare desecrate it in any way. When other countries were burning our flags, I knew in my heart that if I were at the scene, I would put it out with my bare hands to show that I am willing to put my life on the line to defend this country. But like one who had been betrayed and spurned by one’s lover, those feelings are long gone. Only bitter memories remain.
