While union leaders in other countries are always asking for the best wages possible for their workers, the role of union leaders in Singapore is very different.

Lim Swee Say, is one of the best union chief in the world. We workers should not ask for increament at this inflation time, in fact we should reduce our pay so that we can support our million dollar ministers. If the ministers can’t get milliom dollar salaries, then they will serve the country half heartedly, and they will be corrupted because ‘ money no enough’. If the pap ministers serve half heartedly, our economy will be ruin in 5 years, our women will become maids and prostitues in foreign country. So thank you Mr Lim, you are the best union chief and minister in Spore.

    Lim Swee Say,
how much does it takes you to be corrupted and be a running dog ? $5 millions per annum ? You must be damn cheap. Your morality can be bought.

You cheapen yourself when you take up such a post and start doing the work brainlessly. No one will remember you just like no one will remember LKY and his so-called greatness in time to come. Why ? Because their moral and conscience can be easily bought.

  3. Mr Lim Sweet Say,

Stop all your BS! Stop all you CRAP! Tell yourself what have you done for all Singaporeans? Ask yourself who is your boss? People or LKY? Do you not know retribution? Heavens give mandate to leaders, but since you guys are a bunch of idiots and selfish businessman care more for own skin that mandate will be taken away. Not only that you all will be punished, i hope you guys dont have too many family members, all these bad fortunes will be pass on to them. Dont believe me…look at LKY. You can fool us, but not GOD!!!!

SINGAPORE: Labour chief Lim Swee Say has urged workers to work together to cope with a global economy which may be heading towards a state of stagflation — one sparked off by low growth and high inflation.

The NTUC secretary general made the call in his National Day message.

Singapore’s National Day is being celebrated amidst concerns about the slowing global economy and rising inflation, said Mr Lim.

And to tackle these concerns, the labour movement, the employers and the government are addressing two core priorities.

First, coping with the impact of inflation without being caught in a price—wage spiral.

“The worse thing that any country does at a time of high inflation would be for the unions and workers to push for wage inflation. Wage inflation is different from wage increment. Wage inflation means you are pushing up wages to fully offset the inflation,” said the labour chief.

He added that companies in the unionised sector are currently in talks on their annual increment.

One key consideration that is being taken into account in these negotiations is the current state of inflation.

The labour movement noted that private sector companies in the unionised sector have been giving a higher percentage of built—in wage increases in the first half of this year compared to last year, with the figure in the range of 4.4 per cent against 3.8 percent in 2007

The Secretary General of NTUC is “appointed” together with most of the VPs who are also MPs. The former is also appointed as a Minister Without Portfolio or
he has no ministerial departments so his resouces is channelled to be a “full time” labour chief just like all his predecessors. As a Minister his renmeration will be paid by the tax payers but carrying out his duties with NTUC.

So as a Minister as well as a Union Chief one cannot differentiate which hat he is wearing for all the speeches he makes. The Press can say that the NTUC union chief said this and that depending on the occassion where the speech was made but the contents and substance will still be governmental endorsements. No matter what this is always being perceived by the people.

  6. My answer to the question posed in the title is…government mouthpiece.

“So as a Minister as well as a Union Chief one cannot differentiate which hat he is wearing for all the speeches he makes. ”

The answer is very simple. They have given themselves freeway of whatever they want to be depending on the situation irrespective of conflict of interest. They are eating both sides of the the cakes and that is why they are perceived as deceitful and wayang.

Remember Temasek holding. When make money, they say they are business-entity and reward themselves and when lose money, said they are government-linked, keep mum about the loss and protected under the government. So you see the answer is all there.

Lim Swee Say is someone selected by his political masters for multi-tasking
as a mouthpiece. You folks are spot on. But he can do more than one trick.
This mouthpiece can blow his master and his propaganda in one breath !

    Hello mates!

So why is it that I see 90% of bungalows / semi-d’s hang flag while HDB much lesser do the same and ‘coincidentally’ somehow many hdb flags are hung very straight and orderly like fish rod strings are chaining them together into 1 long chain of flags hung on HDBs? Wow, I wonder who has the time and money to go around like this helping HDB residents display their flags?

    any comments ?

  10. LSS and the rest of the cohort are no more than the government’s ‘choir’ – all are EXPECTED to sing the written tune, and lyrics of their song/s. Don’t expect anything REAL from them. – especially pop songs from international chart busters.

If the government and their ministers are not into welfare, and DO NOT intend to provide any REAL HELP (except for enforcing their own crutch mentality that higher salaries keeps them corruption free), they should best STFU – SHUT THE XXXX UP!

  11. Thanks to Insane Poly for an awesome comic strip with Elite Girl and C.U.N.T heh
