Our late Mr JBJ had taught me and shown me what is Perserverance, Integrity and what Fighting Spirit is all about. I hope to educate such virtues to my children – that life is not just about making money at all expense. A Person should always have Integrity and be true to and believe in himself, when knocked down, stand up again to fight for the cause.
Heroes will always be remembered in the hearts of many.
Thank you Sir for all your hard work and dedications. You lost the war but you had won tough battles along the way.To me the meaning of opposition party is simply
JBJ.
They are those, who threathen the masses by instilling fear in their hearts, they went all the way out to wreck his life, made him a bankrupt by filing lawsuits
after another…Many will crack ,evetually have to submit to their whims…There will be exceptional few ,who are able to ressit it…JBJ stand high and tall…like a IRON FORTRESS,the regime failed to break his will….He will be missed,he will be certainly be inspiration for those pursuing the path of change.
If god had created the TYRants to oppress, than he certainly have created JBJ to resist…god might have close door, but he had certainly opened the windows…by bringing JBJ into the equation…With,a heavy heart I bid farewell to this fearless warrior of tyrants…..May you rest in peace….amen
I am not big on his brand of politics but I must say he had the guts to stand up for what he believed in and most importantly for standing up for Singapore and Singaporeans.
I regret not buying your book to see what you have to say.
I regret not having to tell you I admired your perserverance and sense of mission.
Now that you are gone, I hope your sons will take up your mission.
It is a heavy responsibilities and we will market this day as JBJ Day.
Do not concern much about politics here as it is winner take absolutely all- many are hopeful but no one knows how the below par get to be MP in the first place.
Just to work to barely stay alive whole life unlike the fat cats.
But always consider JBJ to be true to himself – unlike the word meaning – HYPOCRITE and the other thing is that JBJ is really for the citizens.
The F1 continues to confirm the worst fears of citizens – Singapore is going to the OTHERS; and a minister @ JBJ’s wake – what a show of guilt.
Some people still think that citizens are born yesterday.
I am deeply saddened by his sudden demise. I never agreed with many of his views but nevertheless I truely admired his grit and determination. It is indeed a great loss to our nation! I also feel that the condolence letter from our PM could have been more positively toned.
God Bless!
JB Jeyaratnam, you are a truely one of our very own Singaporean great politian. A true example that all wanabe opposition MP should learn from. My only chance of meeting you & having the oportunity of shaking your hand was at the outside entrance of the Robinson shopping mall. That fighting spirit impression still remain in me. Glad that I managed to get a copy of your ” personally autographed” book, though tired from standing all morning, you still managed a smile for me. That is the spirit I admire and I can say non of our current crop of MP can get close to this.
May Peace Be With You.
Dear Sir
You were the face of opposition in Singapore.
I have never known your brand of politics well because it was not widely reported.
What I do know from the media, is that you met with countless setbacks, not only financially, but in your social standings as well.
You took them on the chin like a true man, you did not run away like so many others.
You have my respect.
I can only hope that you did not suffer at the last moment, and that you know of the admiration that many Singaporeans have for you.
The one and only father who fought all the way for human rights has left this sinful earth. He has lost everything for the people and still wanted to fight for justice at this age. I’ve never seen such a man in all these years. HATS OFF SIR. May God Bless Your Kind Soul. We Singaporeans must be proud to have a Father like him who didn’t give up till his last days. I hope the government will do something for the young generation and the upcoming generation to know who was JBJ. He was defeated but he is always Singapore’s number one HERO. And the best thing about him is, being nailed down so many times, he didn’t migrate or went low profile. He was still standing strong. Dear Sir, I’ll company you till the last rites.
Everyone praises the late honourable stalwart JBJ for his tenacity, will-power, a deep sense of pure demoratic fairness and for giving the man in the street a voice.
I have always marvelled at his aristocratic English and the perfect oration. I hope the ministers learn from him.
A true hero, who fought the good fight not for himself but for Singaporeans.
For a better future for Singaporeans, who stood up for what he believed in, stood up for the human rights of Singaporeans. The PAP try to hit him down, but he kept coming back. The PAP used all they can to bring him down, but he just refused to give up. Truly he won the fight against the PAP. He had his ideas & the PAP just wouldn’t listen cause that means loss of ‘face” for PAP. If the PAP had been more humble to let him share his ideas and to carry it out Singaporeans would have had a much better life. Peace to you, Mr. Jeyeratenam. For you are gone fighting the good fight and RIP you will be. But not us, who can’t even stand up for our rights.
You were a friend to all Singaporeans, the voice for all workers and ordinary human beings …. in 1981 you helped open the eyes of all Singaporeans towards the realisation of the power of the ballot box …..in your life you dedicated towards this nation progress for real democracy and justice …. rest my friend …. and rest knowing that your fight will never end as the end of nemesis draws near ….. justice, democracy and human rights will prevail no matter
Oh what a sad day it is for Singapore
for on this day, She has truly lost a son
A son who had always fended the meek against the mighty
A son who had never given up on the ordinary people of Singapore
A son who had and will always stand by the people of Singapore
A son who had never forgotten his people
An unswerving spirit, A daunting patriot, A living legend
Dearest JBJ
