Ghandi fears the ISA! I wonder why? If one can act within all the boundaries of the law, then why fear! Maybe, just maybe, the fear of 'accidentally' inciting riots, racial unrest, aiding terrorism, causing splits amongst ethnic groups, causing financial unstability etc etc is a riding fear in Ghandi...WE cannot afford any of these, accidentally or done purposedly, at any cause or cost - for this fear, let the ISA be around, just in case!!
Yes, 32 years is too long for anyone to remain behind bars without trial but here again restraint is advised! I am sure the govt. had valid reasons...the fear was there, Singapore was then just born, slightest incites may trigger catastrophic results, there was so much to do, so much issues that required attentions, so many, the good, bad and ugly, wanted to take charge of it and perhaps Thye Poh was locked up in the true interest of Singapore. Bad habits die hard, they say and maybe, it took Thye Poh that long to kill his 'bad habits'...a victim of time!

Do you know it is illegal in Singapore to conduct surveillance on the Cabinet? At least it is still legal to conduct surveillance on non-Cabinent PAP MPs.

Chia Thye Poh was in detention for 32 years ! This has to be some world record for a person who was never convicted !
Surely the ISA was abused to extract a confession from Chia ?
And Chia did not relent because there was nothing to confess.
Imagine political fortunes change and the ISA is abused.
Can the people dishing out the bitter medicine survive taking such medicine themselves ?
