If we package ourselves to be "cool" to foreigners and foreign talent only, that would be a very sad scenario. The government has made much about its bid to make Singapore a "global", "cool", and "funky" city. I feel whatever the direction the government takes, its underlying intent must be to better the lives of Singaporeans, especially those who are not so well-positioned to handle globalization. If the masses remain oppressed with callous power and public transport companies, and a frustrating CPF system, then all calls to be "cool" will ring hollow. No point trying to please the world at the expense of the people. Well, it must be a “cool” place for Singaporeans themselves too.
