Honest mistake – let’s move on…
Is he above 62 and only with primary education?
Eh CSS, misled into one ceremony and you want to cry. Now you cannot claim to have no first hand experience on being misled.
We have been misled for half a century and we are still getting by.
Just a question: Does one get paid to attend such ceremonies to give out those certificates?
Lol. Give him a break. It was a genuine misake.
a genuine mistake, a non-genuine mistake ………… a mistake is a mistake what!
how can one runs a country when one is so careless? so much in our reserves you know! don’t play play if not we have to go pray pray. how to give him a break?
can understand if we pay peanuts we get monkeys but to pay with the amount one would have to pay to feed an elephant and then get a kangaroo! ….. it’s really beyond my capacity to comprehend!
On the lighter side, the ST reporter could have insisted on her dog receiving its degree certificate from Mr Chan. After paying $600 for it, that’s the least the university could have done…
It was a mistake. But as a MP, you’d think he could be be more careful and mindful about his actions. His intention is good, but he didn’t really give everything much thought, and that says a lot about him.
I expect a people’s representative not to make such mistakes of being misled.
is it difficult to check on the credibility of a University?
Oooops! what to do ? its happened, lets close ranks and move on?
move to where?
Lets hope he will not be misled on national level issues.
After a while people tend to forget this. Especially in 2 years time like that.
any of you guys still remember the “if serangoon road got no lights i won’t worry” comment? who can remember? I cannot remember already.
#6 genami
Genami, I agree with you that given his salary and the position he was entrusted to, he should not have made that mistake.
However, I feel that there are more important issues we can take the government on. If we dwell on trivial issues like that, people may think that we have nothing better to do here than to nitpick on the government.
Lol. Cheers mate. =)
Misled in what sense…I dont understand?
a. Someone in the University misled him into attending the ceremony or
b. his grassroot leader who is a graduand misled him to attend the ceremony or
c. the invitation misled him or
d. the website of WCU misled him or
e. the WCU letterhead with LA address or
f. His multi-million income or
g. His Sub-standard IQ but yet able to serve as a Multi-million Dollar MP
Mislead (verb)
Cause (someone) to have a wrong idea or impression about someone or something: e.g. the government misled the public about the road’s environmental impact.
So whoever misled him, did he do it on purpose? What’s his or her intention?
Given his position, he can also be misled, I believe alot of people can be misled… a good example is the investors in the recent saga or min-bonds, high note 5 etc.
So who misled the people to buy mini-bonds, high note 5 etc?
If I am not wrong, Mr Chan also headed our Shuzhou project. some years back…. What has happened to Suzhou Project?? Any one misled…. haha…
(1) Chan was a top scholar?
(2) Chan was top official in MHA?
(3) Chan was top official of CDAC?
(4) Chan was our top man in Suzhou?
(5)Chan the second top man in Education Ministry?
Good luck to Singapore

Kang wong wong
Misled by who ? A lot of excuse., just like the Pangsai MP, problem surfaced then say, people misunderstood her, all Pap people are Tai Chi Masters
4) The SS on October 24th, 2008 11.40 am
Just a question: Does one get paid to attend such ceremonies to give out those certificates?
I have personally handled 2 events for a VWO where an MP and a Minister of State was invited as Guest of Honour. No payment was involved in both occasions; just a token momento. I am not sure about commercial institutions though. Perhaps someone can clarify – especially those handling events for private colleges and uni?
Will he in a few years’ time turn around and tell all of us that he had been misled by the PAP into becoming an MP and a Minister?
How many more excuses of “being misled by others” (always throw the cause of wrong doings to others instead of honestly doing the right thing and apologise for such a blundering mistake) will we be hearing from our Extraordinarily Expensively Paid Extra-ordinary Ministers?
Pres scholar also can be misled, let alone us ordinary people with some education.
if a mp can get mislead so easily, then even those educated investors in the minibonds surely get cheated already.
pay all minibonds investors back their money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will there be a talk at Hong Lim on Saturday 25 Oct 2008?
what time?
i guess its no more?
This sounds that MP Chan SS is not that intelligent after all. Did MM Lee includes him in his intelligence list? Or is he permit to makes mistakes like our MHA minister? But anyway, make serious mistakes, still work is in place, and increase in pay some more. I think he is purely lazy. Never check first and ask permission!
He has been misled whole life!
patriot
Does not improve the credibility of the MP trying to eradicate the seediness of his constituency. Let’s work harder on this aspect.
