When you talk about a non-Malay PM, you are being racist, because you shouldn’t ask the question whether a Malay or non-Malay can be PM. Here everyone can become Prime Minister, but he must be a leader of the majority party.

Mahathir Mohamad

  1. As much as I dislike this contemptary of MM, this actually makes sense.

  2. Semantics.

  3. Acknowledging race is not the same thing as being racist.

A minority exploiting his minority status isn’t the same thing as the majority actively discriminating against the minority.

  4. I don’t know about you guys but this is one man in the same mould as LKY. Nothing good comes out from their mouth these days.

Whether I like the PAP Govt or not, I will close rank on this because it came from Mahathir.

Anyone else other than him, I might still give a listen to but not him. Just like LKY, he has a lot of underlying motive and personal scores to settle.

  5. All birds of the same feature flock together and herald the same thing.

CAVEAT EMPTOR, let the listener beware !

So much wisdom from these old birds but action prove otherwise.

People who can’t afford to lose power have to resort to conceited words of wisdom. When it’s time to execute their wisdom, you have zillions excuse of why it cannot be done.

  7. Mr. Mahathir, sir. We know your father was a Tamil Language Teacher in Malaya. So, like the Indian-Muslim trader, who ‘snaked’ his way into one of the families of one of the Royal Malay House-holds [I studied Malayan History half a century ago and so may be excused if I cannot recall which State], then cleverly convinced the Sultan to appoint him as the Sultan’s advisor only subsequently to oust his his ‘advisee’ [poetic licence], and assumed the name of ‘Tipu Sultan’ upon ascending the throne [hey people, I'm not jesting here, O.K.?], a parallel may be drawn here, may we not Sir?

Talking about being a racist, you remember that grand old man of Malayan politics and the Father of Modern Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman…a man well-loved by all segments of Malayan Society? He booted you out of UMNO, do you remember?

Now why did such a genial man such as the Tunku was, do such a thing to you? Well according to documents written by the Tunku himself, which I was fortunate to get to read because they were freely circulated then, you had tried to provoke Malay racial sentiments against the Tunku by accusing him of ‘playing poker’ with his Chinese friends when a racial riot had broken out. Now why had you on that occasion specifically mentioned ‘Chinese’ friends when ‘friends’ would have sufficed. Wasn’t it evident that you were trying to stoke the feelings of Malay extremism against the Tunku, and like the ‘Tipu Sultan’ I had mentioned above, subsequently to become the P.M. of Malaysia in his place? Were you not an out and out racist then?

Also what did the Tunku say of you on that occasion. I believe he said something to this effect: ” With a piece of paper and a drop of ink, you have tried to undo all my life’s work of building a multi-racial and a harmonious society for all our citizens, so that together we can build a strong and prosperous Malaysia. [I MUST STRESS HERE THAT I CAN'T REMEMBER THE EXACT WORDS, PHRASES AND SENTENCES, but the message IS the same].

You were subsequently kicked out of UMNO and remained in the political wilderness for some years. You were bright, you had a sharp tongue and you were ambitious to the extent that you would allow nothing to stand in your way of becoming the holder of the highest office in the land. Yes, you were a racist yourself, and your end justifies your means. This is only too evident in what you did to Anwar Ibrahim, your nemesis.

Next, the Tunku never intended the special privileges for the Malays to be indefinite. But when you became P.M. you repackaged the ‘special privileges’ for whom you call ‘bumiputeras’ as the New Economic Policies or NEP. Now why do you differentiate between ‘bumiputeras’ and ‘non-bumiputeras’ in justifying privileging the Malays with rights at the expense of the other Malaysians whose contribution to the growth and prosperity of Malaysia is incontrovertibly equal if not more than the ‘bumis’.

Tell me Mr.Mahathir, Sir: If a poor ‘bumiputera’ should be given a leg-up, shouldn’t a poor Indian, Chinese, Orang Laut and the ‘Others’ be similarly helped? If the children of poor Malays should be given all necessary help to ensure that they will have a good future, should not the children of all loyal and economically active but poor Malaysians be also given an opportunity to have a good future.

What is worse is that your opponentsin the Malaysian Opposition who themselves are ‘bumiputeras’ have said that all you have done during your ‘caliphate’ was to create a small. crony, Malay ‘middle-class’. The Malays in the rural regions of your country have been unable to avail themselves of a fair share of the ‘kueh negarah’.

And you are not only a racist; you are also an autocrat masquerading as a democrat. My Malay friends in Malaysia…the more cosmopolitan and enlightened ones… say you have the ‘pharoah’s mentality’. The pharoahs of old, built the pyramids as standing monuments to their self-glorification. You built the Petronas Twin Towers and the ‘Potong Salah’…oops! Sorry… I mean er, the Proton Saga hoping that Malaysia can rival Japan in the automobil industry. Were all these projects you initiated when you were P.M. not also intended to be standing monuments to your eternal glorification?

Sir a man who lives in a ‘glass house’ should not risk taking a bath just to look clean, lest he totally exposes himself.

    Terimah Kaseh, Tuan Mahathir.

    Maju-lah Singkapor or Singay-poor!

  8. It is so comical seeing and hearing the drivels that come out of Mahathir’s mouth. This is the same man who said:
    1) Use ISA on UMNO members who are corrupt
    2) Family members should not be involved in politics
    3) Other people are racists
    4) Malaysia never interferes with other countries’ politics
    5) The Presidency of George Bush Junior must go down in American history as the worse ever. Arrogant, narrow-minded, autocratic, inconsiderate and totally uncaring for the views of others and even of his own countrymen, Bush created a demand for change as no other US President had ever created.

No 5) is classic. Just change the name of Bush to Mahathir and you can see that the description suits TDM to a T.

Technically, Dr Mahatir is not lying. Malaysia consists of a federal government and several state goverments. The federal government is headed by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister equivalent of the state government is known as the Chief Minister. There are Malay and non-Malay Chief Ministers in Malaysia.

Chief ministers yes, but head of state? Think M is talking here about being the head of the country.

Same case with the indonesians and javanese being the President, it seems Singapore isn’t that different after all.

Ok, so what about Singapore? What’s Singapore government like?
