I think its a good idea to benchmark the standard of service provided by child care specialist. I dont think, it is such a good idea to recognize per se without at least having to abide to some checklist, criteria or independent assesment.
Recently, there was a horror story about a 4 year old toddler who I believe was physically abused in a famous chain childcare in Ang Mo Kio area. I believe the care giver used chili padi and the kid was really traumatized. Fortunately, in this case the parents were professionals, so they took the matter to its logical conclusion.
I am just asking how many parents know how to do that? As I said, I am all for benchmarking, but I dont believe blind or blanket endorsement should be just given without the need for benchmarking and continuous and independent assessement.
After all learning vision is a very well established child care provider, how did they get it wrong? And if they get it wrong, how many cowboys are actually out there?
yup. not all preschool teachers are professionals and qualified. they don’t have standard accreditation system.
Dr. Christine Chen’s letter to the Editor (New Straits Times of Malaysia 18 May 2009) was just wonderful.
