They refer only to the toxic products and do not include investments in other markets, which have declined significantly in value. There has been no town council disclosure of total losses.

The only thing they can disclose now is their investments have all been sucked into a black hole and they are busily awaiting for its miraculous resurrection.

They can’t and will not reveal the details of the entire losses less this could trigger off a massive protest from the public.

They won’t reveal such losses for other investments since they are “paper losses”. They may wait till after the GE (which I believe will be in Apr 09) to reveal such losses because the the financial year only end in Mar 09 and they may be required to indicate such losses in the annual reports.

For TCs with big losses, I suspect they may rearrange the electoral boundaries to spread out the losses to neighbouring wards so that they can report, on average, smaller losses at each new TCs formed with the redrawn boundaries. A prime candidate is Holland-Bukit Panjang TCs since they have $8M in Lehman Bros related investment and 530,000 Creative shares which has tanked substantially.

Don’t expect the PAP town councils to disclose anything that they don’t have to. And there really isn’t anything we can do about it.

I’m so disappointed with Low Thia Kiang, Chiam See Tong and Sylvia Lim. They’re passing up a golden opportunity to crucify the PAP. So disappointing.

vote in more oppostions, your money will be safe in town council. not like Pap TC, where money is gone and it will take years to recover if you are lucky.
