Very nice.
I assume TOC will be covering the event? I wish them all a fruitful, insightful and civil public discourse on an important topic!
Keep it up opposition parties.organise more talks, hammer the Pap harder, this recession is indirectly caused by them.
Dear Seelan Palay,
I will support you under the minority candidate.Win or lose doesn’t matter. Thank you for your effort. I am tewniaseng. TOC don’t allow this name.
Congratulation SDA.
We need more forum to discuss about social politics in Singapore.
The topic about Budget 2009 was the best way to discuss from the citizen.
The SDA-NSP those speaker are good, they can deliver and discuss our future of Singapore sucess.
Time is running out.
New generation need to engage to a topic to discuss for the future of Singapore sucess.
Let’s come down and listen what they are going to say.
Long live Singapore………
If I am not wrong,NSP had left SDA,but the logo display do not belongs to NSP.
seagull,
You are correct. We apologise for the mistake. The logo has been changed.
Here is the NSP’s actual logo – http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/72/Nsp_logo.png
yahoo! up the irons! this sounds constructive. the whole of Singapore should go.
It is only right that in a Pluralistic society and a Democracy ,
Alternative Views be heard and welcomed.
Its time we see the Alternative parties
say something to address to the democratic community.
9) Its about Time
You are right! Actually there is no squabble before between which alternative party is being represented. I am just glad that there is some alternative views to the PAP’s budget proposal be it positive or negative.
That is true. Singapore is well known throughout the world to be unique.
There is also lack of alternative voice.
In this respect, such speech by alternative community is welcome and overdue.
Some thing said is better than nothing done.
boh fish hay also ho.
Why they always like to go Speakers Corner … It does not make for good public speaking there..
ASK THEM TO PUBLISH THEIR COMMENTS/CRITIQUE on the online citizen or their portal..
and then let people participate ..and then you can publish the summary of the discussion for all the see..
Go to Speakers Corner is only to ask people to listen to you..
I think people have done enough listening .. why not have an interactive session and then find means to publish the results for people to read via emails, newsletter. People understnad better when analysing in the comfort not standing under mosquito ridden place.
Good that NSP is stepping up the gear now.
Way to go!
Vote NSP into parlieaments, vote at least 10 candidates in, WP 6 candidates, SPP 6 candidates. total 22 candidates , at least show to Pap, we can do it. Many Pap MPs hide under Ministers skirt, don’t know how to tackle problems, they dont have experience, that is why their MP kena burnt.
Yes, its time to move forward and speak out now. All aternative parties must now step up and join force towards a common goal for the people of singapore. All parties including the common folks must come together as one big mass. Yes, when you decide to hit, then hit it hard, hard enough to tell these elites that they aint no God nor try to be one. Its already 44 years and enough is enough!
I really wish to see an “Obama” in them. Otherwise, it is really a waste of time.
Its the end of the material-centred world and a new responsible,co-existence and eco-friendly world has arrived. If our leaders are not awakened to this new reality, no matters how bold and how much they pump into the economy will not help in the long term. Then we still have to go through the every ten-year cycle of economic recession that is naturally inevitable to stop the excessive damage to our natural environment for sake of material economic growth. Lets see whether the alternative parties can come up with something that is sustainable and recession-proof in the long run.
Spirit-centred, that is a beautiful comment of yours and I share your sentiments completely.
My friends overseas keep nudging me (mostly playfully) to form a Green Party here in Singapore. I usually just smile back at them quietly.
Sorry if this came a little late – I would advise the NSP to put this event as a major article on their website … attracting people to the event by clicking on a tiny “event” link at the top of their webpage (http://www.nsp.sg/) seems a bit too optimistic.
Or is this an unfortunate reflection of an opinion that nobody cares to read the NSP’s main website?
Although most singaporeans will not attend this hong lim session,
I would because if i do not support public speaking by alternative parties, am i waiting for others to support them? singaporeans are too practical. The are also inexperienced. Singaporeans think that listening to public speaking is a crime.
Hahahaha~
There can’t be more than 2 dozen attenders there? And almost half of them are NSP members. I suppose what someone said before was right. This is about all the opposition supporters there are in Singapore.
Most of those whom I saw are elderly chaps. I don’t know what happened after 7:45pm as I left. The topic the speakers(if they can be considered speakers) related to can easily be found online. They are also very common everyday issues.
I wonder how anyone will be attracted to such a gathering if they have something else to do.
Haha~
TOC publishes better economic thought than what NSP is capable of.
Why are laughing at them panther? At least they made an effort and put their necks on the line by standing in the manufactured elections against the PAP regime, what have you done?
saw the summary in straits times..
Steve Chia’s comments are very good..
This guy is a talent in asking sharp questions..
I am suprise that NSP currently working directly helping the poor and needy after a series of event they have done during this difficult time, I am sure NSP have come to believe action worth a thousand words. Now they are voicing out for the people. Wow! Keep up the good work NSP. My vote is sure you NSP if you guys contest in my constituency.
