We hope the video will bring more insight into the economic difficulties Singapore will face in 2009 and the actions the Union is taking beyond what was reported by the media.

If the economy is good the PAP leader’s will say, “Look! S’poreans, its because of us, our foresight, our cleverness, etc. we deserve the million $$$ salary”

On the other hand, if the economy is bad, they will say, ” It’s beyond our control, things aren’t going right in the U.S. Things would have been worse without us. That is why we still deserve to be paid in the millions$$$$”

“…labor movement , we are not against retrenchment…”

“…on an average good year, 3000 to 5000 of our members, our workers are retrenched and we never objected to these …”

“…we are against retrenchment as a 1st resort…”

>>> can you comment on what you have done in response to retrenchment by DBS? what real effect or protection can come from NTUC when companies retrench as a 1st resort?
