A sad case indeed. The Singapore government should foot his bill because he was doing service for the nation.
This is typical of PAP government trying to run away from its responsibilty of Singaporeans (and preferring foreigners). A male Singaporean gives two years of his life at his primeto do national service and then reservists to ensure the security of the nation.
Virtually any foreigner can be a permanent resident (with the required eduvcational qualifications) of Singapore, enjoy almost all the benefits of a Singaporean and better still, no need to do national service.
At the end of the day the PAP government don’t mind losing billions of $$$ through bad and poor money management but would not spend a fraction of its losses on its citizens. What a pity.
