On TOC’s by-election survey in Jurong GRC

It is no joke to have the police come up to you, tell you they have received a complaint that you are breaking the law while declining to disclose details of this complaint, and then keep you waiting for nearly an hour without any update or information on what was going on… I could not and still cannot shake off the belief that the entire incident was related to the fact that the survey questions could be seen as being politically sensitive
NMP Siew Kum Hong
My ministry and the police are not intending to let that asset be debased by allowing the police to become a tool for petty politics… The integrity and impartiality of the police force should be beyond reproach and that has been and will be our policy.
Law Minister K Shanmugam

“The integrity and impartiality of the police force should be beyond reproach ”.
Indeed. The operative word is “should” but is it? Will Minister Shanmugam comment on why the authorities expend significant resources (just check the Youtube recordings) to monitor the activities of the opposition parties, particularly the SDP when there is real police work to be done elsewhere?
I also do not see much integrity in the police’s testimony given in the politically motivated trials.

To continue of Zefly’s example.
“Customer: Waiter waiter! There’s a fly in my soup
Waiter: Where got?
Customer: (points to fly) Neh!
Waiter: There is no fly in your soup. The cleanliness of my kitchen should be beyond reproach.”
Customer: I want to see your manager !
PinkyManager: What happen ?
Customer: There is a fly in the soup !
PinkyManager whispering to the waiter: Remove the fly while I distract him with dubious conversation.
At this moment, PinkyManager ask the customer to go to “designated” corner and pretend to listen to the customer while the waiter quickly remove the fly in the soup, and signal to the manager that the job is done.
PinkyManager: How dare you defame us by saying that there is a fly in the soup. Our soup is beyond reproach and fly-free. We can sue you for damaging the reputation of our restaurant. We do not wayang, and will happily show you the evidence that there is no fly in the soup. So you better apologise or else I slap you with lawsuit.
Customer: Very well, let check it out.
Customer: How come the fly disappear ? It is obviously a fly is there. Don’t believe ask the waiter.
Waiter: Nonsense. There is no fly. Can you see the fly ? Don’t anyhow accuse us because we serve soul not fly ! There is no evidence of any fly in the soul. Don’t think that you customer can just get away with false accusation.
PinkyManager to customer: Don’t come here to play play, we will sue you if you continue to be troublemaker. You better pay before going off. Don’t think that you can get free lunch.
Customer: Just my poor luck today to visit such a kangaroo restaurant.
Manager: Say that again… waiter, please bring a video camera to film this troublemaker.
give me hell, yea!
We know what the police is and what it’s used for. Ever heard of pigs?
The people of singapore, including the Police are so over-controlled that they (the Police ) do not know what to do without proper instructions. In the ‘white elephant’ episode they made a mistake for not taking action against certain grassroof leaders. Subsequently, they made another mistake by warning some innocent school girls for wearing ‘white elephant’ T-shirts.
Trust the police and give them confidence to do a good job.

It is actually quite simple on how the Ministry of Law ensures the police is beyond reproach. The Singapore Police Force is granted sovereign immunity, so nobody can take the Police to court over any decisions they make or abuse of power.

One question to ask here is:
Is a Govt Nominated MP a lesser MP than an Elected MP in terms of treatment by the Police and in the eyes of the Law?
If you read the full article, you’ll see the following as well.
In fact, the problem is that up to 60 per cent of the calls police receive are nuisance calls. He added, to laughter: ‘Mr Siew would accept that complaints, when made to the police, have to be investigated even if it involves someone as important as Mr Siew.’
When Mr Siew protested, the minister said with a smile that it was a light-hearted remark and not meant to suggest he was full of self-importance.
Wow. What a condescending remark from our Law Minister. The NMP is highlighting a valid question and the Minister finds this amusing in parliament? So will the House tolerate if MP Low, NMP Sylvia or NMP Siew make a ‘light-hearted remark’ such as the fact that the “people see the Jobs Credit Scheme as having more frivolous hot air than actual substance”?
I am disgusted with the behaviour of the Minsiter and find his attitude and lack of decorum deplorable.

not intimidated
These PAP politicians have learn the art of bullying from the ancient mentor.
Doing it openly in parliament and abusing the application of the laws
will not earn them any respect.
Take comfort guys, because the Bullies-in White thrive only when they have authority and a vast numerical advantage.
Siew and Low T K did really well by not being intimidated.

“The integrity and impartiality of the police force should be beyond reproach ”
Just because you say so doesn’t necessarily mean it is so. Does it mean that the police force is always impartial? Or does it mean that when they are perceived not to be, we are not allowed to reproach them?
