There was uproar in China too when Gong Li converted to Singaporean citizenship too. The typical practise in talent poaching is that the poacher will compensate Mr Wu NT$900,000 (S$39,600) if Mr Wu returns his 2005 reward to the Taiwan Pool and Billiards Association (CTBA) and converts to SIngapore citizenship. Any real threat should the CTBA come out has to be based on administrative, social and physical repercussion if it ought to be a genuine threat.
We should spend money to nurture local talents instead. All these importing of FT for sports is a farce.
If we really cannot win sports medal, we should just accept it, instead of trying high and low to entice foreigner to come over to make a fool of us.
I agree. Want to play, play fair. Whats sports when no locals are actually representing their own country?
This is exactly what our present govts are good at, always using taxpayers money as a tool to buy over foreign talents and start boasting of their achievements, so bloody siah sway! now the world knows about this and it makes us singaporeans looking really ugly now.
In the sense of ..
Always look down on her own citizen ??
Why ? Why ? Why ?
When can that be changed ??
If you have money, you can buy fame and glory…. shallow ;-(
