Mr Nathan, as President, you must take the initiative to release the above information for the public to know.

You are a very close friend of Lee Kuan Yew. But he is not your boss. You do not need to save face for them by covering up their mistakes. Please remember your duty to the citizens of Singapore.

The President of Singapore was an ISD chief…an ex-editor of the subservient Straits Times…so many dots here, somebody connect them please…we didnt vote for you!

  2. Do U bite the hand that feed U? The President is beholden to the Prime Minister who appointed him in the first place!!

  3. Is the president still making and serving the prata to the Lee family ? How come no news from Mr President ?

  4. Anonymous 16 February 2009

David, it is wrong to say that the PM appointed the President. The President was duly and legally elected to office after all the other candidates failed to qualify for the position.

  5. Yeah, technically he has been voted in.

  6. and technically those losses are paper losses. NOT real losses. so how’s that?

screw the technically or not, we all know the truth.

  9. $4 million silence 17 February 2009

It is of utmost importance that President Nathan understands his loyalty
is to the people of Singapore and not the PAP govt.

The President must tell the truth about our reserves.

Anything less from him has to go down in history as betrayal.

Please do not force Mr Nathan to become Mr Ong Teng Cheong when he is obviously not.

Put yourself in his shoes..would you really want to risk losing your high paying job or even your life and family by really doing your job when you are expected not to by the people(or The People) who put you there?

The Constitution of Singapore requires President Nathan to publish his opinion if Singapore’s reserves are being drawn. Where is his opinion? Below is except from our Constitution:

Publication of President’s opinion regarding certain liabilities of the Government

148H. Where the President considers that certain liabilities of the Government, though not requiring his approval, are likely to draw on the reserves of the Government which were not accumulated by the Government during its current term of office, he shall state his opinion in writing to the Prime Minister and shall cause the opinion to be published in the Gazette.

Even our truly honorable late President Ong Teng Cheong was not given the detailed information with regards to the reserves. If i remember correctly, an official told him that it would take 20 man-years to answer his query. Period.

I’m puzzled that even a high ranking PAP man has no answer to it. Who has then?

    13) Commando

If I remember correctly, the govt reportedly told President Ong that they needed 53 man-years to work out the total of national reserve i.e. not 20 man-years.

President, do what is right, for the people of your country, even if dogs may bark at you, at least you have shown that you are truly for the people.

Interview with the late Mr Ong teng cheong

    http://voices.sg/2008/11/asiaweek-interviews-ong-teng-cheong/

For the assets, like properties and so on, normally you say it’s worth $30 million or $100 million or whatever. But they said it would take 56-man years to produce a dollar-and-cents value of the immovable assets

So now, should there be a state of emergency to call in the army, then the army should now know exactly who is “the enemy” of singapore. Don’t just follow law blindly.

The President should hold a royal commission of enquiry to investigate the loses by Temasek and GIC , if possible bring the culprit to court. Do you think our president dare to do it ?? You guess

  19. oh, there is an answer @

    http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/409617/1/.html

however, why do i feel weird when i read it…some of the words that he say is like a repeat of what e FM says

  20. Does the government work for the people or do the people work for the government? I’m rather confused as it seems to be the latter in our context (or at least the current government seems to think and act so).

  21. 19) WeC

there is no need to be confused as you are right…however it seems that the gahmen do seem to be working for some people???
