She’s very engaging. Maybe because of her training as a doctor … she has good bedside manners.

>>Despite this incident, Dr Fatimah told Weekend Today that she would not change the way or pace at which she’s been working as an MP.

Sigh (shake head)

I’m not so bothered about the MP’s feeling because if there’s “no smoke,no fire” Obviously the reporter had information from her constituents.
What I’m concern is the future of this reporter, who by now may probably be “invited” to the Istana to “limp kopi. ”
What a pity ! In the course of doing her honest reporting, she has to realise that in Singapore, conscience doesn’t pay.

This is getting ridiculous……
One must stand up for oneself….
There must be courage & conviction to lead….
The way it is going , it is really going downhill if division one officers need so many people to say good and nice things….no different from being spoon fed
When can we see the new mps and new ministers really growing up?

The reporter wrote it but the editors approved (and modified) it. I thought that the the editors are always the gatekeepers (OB watchers) of our esteemed MSM. This cannot be that simple, right?. There are always checks in MSM for the kind of news to release.

Why are the editors letting this kind of news slipped?

The original ST article is still very much pro-PAP. It just so happens that Dr Fatimah was singled out and SM Goh is very protective of her since she is a MP from his GRC. SM Goh’s reaction not only over blow the entire affair, but also somewhat cemented the public’s discreet opinion that she may actually be unable to connect to the chinese population. SM Goh’s action will only encourage her and the MPs in his GRC to adopt a clutch mentality.

This remark of MP Lim Biow Chuan really baffles me.

Why did MP Lim Biow Chuan use such a term to describe MP Fatimah Lateef? Unless he had been a patient of Dr Fatimah for some time.

That term is an Old English term and it should be “bedside manner” instead of “bedside manners”, which can mean other things as well in the modern day context.

Even if MP Lim knows Dr Lateef’s “bedside manner”, irrespective of good or bad, he should not have made it as a public comment with regard to her dealing with her constituents because it is a term to describe doctor-patient relationship.

Are the constituents of her ward, Geylang Serai, being seen as sick people (patients) by either MP Lim or MP Fatimah?

I wonder what MP Lim is trying to show?

Ha ha, TQ # 12 – you make my morning on the flippant tonge in cheek. In the place I used to work before , russia, – they call it ” manner of bed” – an upside down tradition following the french to get some class.

The ST looks good today – implicitly it took a position and stand.

If the ST can rid itself of fears – it can be respectable as an independent paper.
