Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet, because people can write whatever they want… I never read these Internet forums because the postings can’t be taken seriously – anyone can write anything.

nowadays people do not dare to any how write anything because if we any how write we will be sue.
so i think things written on the internet may be more true than before.
after the seng han tong issue. government say will take action on people who any how write things on internet.
so now people write carefully and more truthful.
Just because people can any how write in the internet and it means there’s more truth than before??
Let’s be fair to both David and Professor Chan, as until now, all the allegations made in the internet can only be considered as speculative.
how can there be truth if people any how write?
hope that people do not anyhow write and people who any how write should be sue.
maybe it will depend on things like if there is no demand then slowly then there will be no more supply also.
or should we try to increase demand so that suppply will not die off?
or will there be a need? or no need?
i think there is a need to keep the root if possible.
if not possible i also do not know how.
Please click on the link and read the full article. The Prof said more things than internet forums can’t be taken seriously. Particularly:
‘I believe in freedom of speech so I won’t take action or read what has been written on the Internet, though these are untrue.
‘…There are more important things for me to do than to counter the speculation of other people.
‘I just hope that people will think before believing what has been written on the Internet and that people will be responsible for what they write.’
Aiyoh, why is it such a difficult and novel concept for most people – ALWAYS be careful about what you read! I don’t mean you should look for conspiracies in everything and criticize all you see, but never ever shut off your bullshit indicator, it’s one of the most valuable tools you could ever have as a human being in modern society.
How can it be? Until now, no one has ever been sued in forums. The only people who kena are few bloggers, and they are very few and were racist bloggers.
I prefer not to believe what is written on the media… Media black out happen when they are “controlled”
really? comments on forums no matter what we write will not be sue?
or is it have not be sue?
any lawyer here to give advise?
hope i will not be sue because i also any how say in forums sometimes.
I don’t take NTU professors seriously either, any idea why?
i also believe in freedom of speech.
if one day i am say bad things by other people i will not sue people also.
hope that our government no matter who is the government or from which party the government, will allow freedom of speech and not sue people.
what about nus prof are they more professional?
nus a better university?
“Let’s be fair to both David and Professor Chan, as until now, all the allegations made in the internet can only be considered as speculative.”
what is not speculative then ?
“Let’s be fair to both David and Professor Chan, as until now, all the allegations made in the internet can only be considered as speculative”
What is your basis of this? What grounds are you to judge ALL the allegations . . . only be considered as speculative.
Similarly what you posted is considered speculative by ALL readers here.
Guys and Gals,
do you see the irony?
Based on the article or prof, the internet comments are considered Speculation.
and the prof says “‘I just hope that people will think before believing what has been written on the Internet and that people will be responsible for what they write.’”
So, my question is:
1. Is ‘Speculation’ = FALSEHOOD? Can ‘Speculation’ never have any Truth in it?
2. So, by urging people not to believe whats on the net, does it mean people should not believe what is on the net? As in completely and always?
I think who ever can can whatever now. The investigators should really look into the allegations or suggested reasons behind the stabbing in order to confirm what is false and what is the truth.
when you read rice with salt add more salt to swallow.
is making a prediction against the law?
by making a prediction will we be sue by people?
for example i predict that mr so and so may die when,
or i predict that a party will lose next election,
or i predict that the person is a lousy mp?
will i be sue?
any lawyer here to comment?
i feel so shameful that a professor can’t understand the value of free exchange of information – the very concept that had helped him in his research and get his professorship in the first place.
you are not a serious person that’s why you don’t take it seriously.neither do i believe what you have posted too, your comment sound strange to me.
