The above quote seems to tell me that the ASSUMPTION here is that the problem is linked to scholarship.

My open mind tells me that its possible that logically there could be other reasons that none of us knows.

Also, i feel that the a person’s opinion can be different from another’s.

So, what is the real reason?

So does that mean there is a problem with the person who decided to terminate the scholarship? This David is already in his final year, there’s only a few more months to go. Even if his scholarship was terminated, he could had still managed to get by from either savings or financial support from his family. Getting a bank loan, taking on part-time jobs are possible avenues of income as well in the time-being.

I hate to say this, but trying to kill your prof just because your scholarship was terminated is just plain juvenile.

From what I understand from the New Paper he was given 3 warning letters before he was terminated 2 weeks ago. It must have hit him pretty hard if this is the result. I guess he must have thought that his supervisor is the one to recommend the termination. But this is just speculation … cos now we will never know as no one bothered to talk to him when they decide to terminate his scholarship by letter. Tsk,tsk,tsk… NTU?

CJ – that is a bit harsh. What has this got to do with being high-handed?

From the tone of the Indon Embassy Counsellor, it would appear the problem is with the one who terminated David’s scholarship. This is very unfair and pointing finger.

As with any scholarship awards, there are certain hurdles and certain expectations from the recepients. We are talking about tax money being spent on scholarships. We expect certain results and commitments, even among citizens, let alone foreigners. I assume David must have failed in showing the minimum standards. If so, can we blame the professor or committee who decided to terminate David’s scholarship?

it’s also over denial of something without reasons…

consequences of being high-handed in everything…
