I applaud TOC effort in its desire to become the alternative voice to the public. A natural progression of TOC from just a website with slight journalistic content and commentaries to a main stream media is to start collecting donations from the internet public. This will gauge the level of support it has with the readers, ease the financial burden on the current group keeping the website operational, as well as improve the journalistic content. If enough support is given, it may even contemplate printing publication for the reading public!!
I think if they use the term, “all bloggers represented were invited only” in their published report.
There will not be an issue.
The problem is if IPS generalizes by misrepresenting the case the blogging community was represented.
Then I think there will be an issue.
There is a rumor circulating around, some people are boycotting IPS. And they seem to be persuading many others to do the same.
Maybe this is the Civil disobedience?
So, what is it you are driving at?
what you said is mostly nothing new.
what is your motivation for holding the seminar?
is it your personal initiative?

So, what is it you are driving at?
what you said is mostly nothing new.
I think this is a good way to sum up what people feel about that “work in progress” paper. Guess they need to rewrite it in some major way.
some people are the most predictable. so, they should just come straight to the point.
What I cannot understand is what was the main reason for making it a strictly invitation only event?
Coming to think about it what was the basis of the criteria for an invitation? Is it based on readership? Or must the blogger be prominent in the blogging community etc.
I only saw the 1st part of the vid above.
I stopped after that because
I find it not interesting.
1.To me at least, Mr Tan seems like trying to get confirmation of his understanding of the blogosphere by chatting with the selectively invited bloggers? Am I right Tan? I mean, why are you presenting your findings to the bloggers? What is your intention?
2. Did you organized this event for yourself? For who ? If not yourself, who asked you to do it? Is it part of your job or done in personal capacity? What is ambassssador ‘s role in this event? care to enlighten ?
3. why did the bloggers attend? not to say it is wrong or right, but what is the motivation behind their attendance given this is held by …. I mean, I just curious to know. can or not? no can? can can?
while i am as curious as

In addition, i like to ask Mr Tan Tarn How, does the selected few bloggers agree with what you said? Does all the bloggers in singapore agree with what you said? Do they have a chance to reply to your speech? Does TOC have footage of responses, if any?
after hearing the 7 minute slide, my 2nd time listening to it,
I must say that to an extent i agree with what Tan Tarn How has said :
1. while it seems a lot of content and many comments posted,
there is no CRITICAL MASS. Out of 4.5 million people, prolly less than 1000 people actually are frequent readers of TOC (with all due respect). I personally used to post 10 or more comments per article. but no one knows except those who have access to my login info. So. of all the read counts or comment counts, much less are unique individuals.
My view is what i had commented before, while it is a good effort and something new for singaporeans, there is a lack of critical mass. This implies, the effect TOC hopes to gain may be negligible. unfortunately.
Is it not a sad situation? This country is really unique. I believe majority are apathetic. What was the Mother of all Cause? Is Creativity stiffled?
