During tough times, it is understandable that people feel anxious and stressed. They worry about whether they can hold on to their jobs and take care of their families.
Our tradition of tripartite cooperation is especially valuable at this time, and we must preserve and strengthen this partnership in this crisis.

hope that both rich people and poor people will work together.
and hope rich people will work even more since they are richer.
Singapore united my foot! Only doggies will b inspired!
Why tripatite but not quadpatite / pentpatite?
All depend on how you market your policy…
“Staying united, moving ahead ” is a call to all PAP members and stooges
who have retrenchment-proof jobs and recession-proof salaries.
It is indeed their “golden period ” !
About time ordinary citizens end this “golden period ” with their votes.
Yeah right.. The last time 3 times I was told to band together (and I did) during the Asian Financial Crisis, 911 and SARs. What happened was;
- my standard of living dropped (pay remain the same while public transport, ERPs, healthcare rise,
- more foreigners congesting my country while I continue to serve ICT,
- GST raise and coincidentally we have the $ to increase the ministerial pay,
- more ministers with inconsequential portfolio,
- Wee Shu Min and dad calling me losers,
- Town Councils investing in Lehman,
- Mas Selamat escape,
- my gov wants to send me to JB when I am old.. (JB’s labour cheaper.. why not ask Johorians to do NS in my place?
I trusted them and gave them 3 chance.. I will give the opposition a chance and band this time.. Afterall; “fool me twice shame on me.”
Actually I think what he meant is that all of us should stand united as one nation. That includes all the opposition parties.
Since we have been neglecting and depriving the opposition parties more seats in the Parliament, this time we must give them more seats and therefore vote in more opposition members into parliament.
Tripartite means = the people, the PAP and the Opposition Parties.
That is what I understand from what LHL is trying to say.
the government is disconnected with the ground, but would still continue to tell us that they are with us. anyway, they are a lot of people who would still believe and subscribe to their BS.
That’s what they want us to believe, that they represent us and care for us, when the truth is something else. however, most people will notice that the more they say it, the hollower it sounds.
It is rather a sad thing. During good times, he almost forget about the existance of us. When times are bad, he asked us to help him. What a funny thing …
I find his speech very uninspiring because he is insincere. Although he tried, he is never one of us and his speech a;ways ends up making him appear very pretencious and childish. It makes me feel worse.
Am I the only one?
yeah, he’s talking but no one seems to be bothered. At least I’m not.
“Our tradition of tripartite cooperation is especially valuable at this time, and we must preserve and strengthen this partnership in this crisis.”
Tripartite cooperation? What is he talking about?? Ask those who was retrenched by DBS on short notice at the start of the financial meltdown..

you are not the only one…
nothing new or motivating, next.
some tips for him … if he has $$$ to spend, go spa, take nutrients stuff and improve on his look and put on some weight.
What Tripartite? As far as the PAP is concerned, there is only one Partite.
What Tripartite is he talking about?
Which are the other two parties? Low Thia Kiang’s party and Chiam See Tong’s party?
What about the rest of the people? The ordinary citizens who do not belong to any party?
aiyoyo
talk is talk, in reality, in what ways are the commoners moving forward
same as that to the elites?
seems elites FLY ahead, commoners quite stagnant…
still very blur on the logic leh..
aiyoyo

As SZ [#13] has noted, you are not the only one. It appears there are at least eleven others here.
Another example of hypocrisy from the govt.
Look at the remuneration of ministers and of people running govt-owned or linked companies. They are paid by the millions. A few days ago we heard about the $20 million dollar bonus being paid to the CEO of Capitaland. Countless people slogging away for a lifetime cannot aggregate anywhere close to $1 million in total income, let alone what’s left in their kitty if there is one for old age.
If LHL is sincere, try raising a proposal for a big remuneration reduction [including bonus cuts] for all ministers and for all executives of govt-owned or linked companies and use the savings from such reductions to create posts/jobs for people who are unemployed but able to work.
To LHL – “NATO” was something you yourself raised, many moons ago. Can you do something more for Singapore or Singaporeans? We do not want lip service, you know. We can do with tangible benefits, not aphorisms.
