I suspect not many singaporeans would be commenting on this one.
    but then its just me.

  2. “She added that she believed the “biggest losers” in these cases were the Singaporean people, who “have a hard time getting complete information and a range of views other than those the government wants them to hear.”

Absolutely true, but thankfully we have TOC which helps.

“Despite the financial penalties, Kirkpatrick and the Dow Jones Publishing Company are determined not to allow their legal issues influence the integrity of their journalism.”

that’s the way to go, integrity…

Wow, I’m impressed by the above statement. This lady knows Singapore’s MSM.

Why didn’t the Attorney General go after the International Bar Association? After all, it is the IBA’s scathing report about the Singapore judiciary which sparked the many subsequent indictment in the first place.

  7. down slope , no brakes 29 March 2009

Singaporeans have been the biggest losers ever since they handed absolute
power to the PAP on a platter. It was the start of a slippery slope.

Agree this gutsy lady knows our MSM, and so do most journalists worldwide.
There are valid reasons for our MSM being ranked poorly at around 147th .

The biggest tragedy awaits Singaporeans who continue to remain apathetic.
It should be crystal clear that absolute power encourages contempt for ordinary
    citizens and their views.

Bravo, Melanie! Keep it up! I am with you! Wish our MSM is just as ballsy!

  9. wedding cheer 29 March 2009

I went to a wedding at a church a few days ago.
When the pastor mentioned in “good times and in recession” …..
the attendees all broke into laughter.
It shows to me that singaporeans are generally not affected by the crisis in a big way. to them, recession is just a funny thing.
