Mr Lim Boon sibeh Heng your salary so high,
Nobody is begrudging big bonuses for big performers. The issue is:
1. Is it the right time, judging the bad economic situation where we should tighten our belts? Should not CDCs lead by example?
2. How do we know they are top performers? What criteria were used to judge? You are using public funds. The public has a right to know.

If the public trust and respect the PAP leaders, they would not have raised the bonus issue in the first place. The fact that the news reports of Mr Lim’s justification of the bonus have to be removed show the PAP reputation is a total bankrupt.
The people has to understand that 8 months bonus is PEANUTS to the Men in White……so what is the big hoohaa???

Obama’s govt is passing a law to prevent AIG from using the bail out money to pay bonuses.We have lost billions in reserves and digging into our reserves to meet our budget and there are civil servants taking bonuses.
I’ve no problem paying out 100-month bonuses or whatever amount to top performers.
BUT MAKE SURE THERE’S A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE!
I’ve read too many cases of incompetent people getting what they don’t deserve.

fundamental values of the government have changed. while keep asking us to accept low pay and bonuses, they are rewarding themselves exhorbitantly???? they are out of touch with the ground! their multi millions have gotten into their heads!
if they can get 8 months, what about the ministers? are they going to reward themselves more? after gic/temasek lost so much money and the economy is first in asia to go into recession?

8 months is alot for PB bonuses. Thi is on top of the annual 2-3 mths bonuses.
I know that civil servants’ basic pay is low sometiems between $2500 to 3000 for graduates. Worl laod for some is also heavy.
3-4 mths is reasonable. This is a bit sad if PB is raised to 6-8 months. It’s like the banks only now we are using tax payer money.
I always think that civil servants are too well paid especially those in the high places.
Clerks and admin staff remain lowly pAID – I HAVE HEARD OF SOMEONE WORKING AS ADMIN LOWER RANK STAFF GETTING $10 AS INCREMENT!
Sigh- the stuff just get more complicated here especially after town council and GIC losses.

only the dear MIW can do things like that…expect singaporeans to accept miserable pay without much increment while they can have obscene salary and bonuses even in this hard time…we elect people like this?wtf!

Chop off a good 2 figure percentage of the officers and their salary, let them sit up and perform. Result will then show.
