I think I’ve learned about forgiveness more than anything else (during my NMP term). It is such a strange lesson for an academic to learn … I hope it stays.

More Christian fundamentalist crap escaping from her mouth?

She ought to be gagged for life!

  2. Forgiveness? Just google and read what she said about homosexuals during
to Section 377A debate in Parliament.

Its funny why she still hasn’t make up her mind to run for another term. Sound like some last minute thing that will shock you, like someone just grab the pole position of a women’s org recently.

If Professor Thio is serious about learning anything, I advise her to learn how to separate religion from politics, how to develop objective opinion free from her deep-seated prejudices, how to respect other people and how to speak with sincerity and humility.

It is all too often the case that academics like her are sheltered from the real world, and think that by dint of reason (not that Thio’s reasoning is infallible) they can change the world, or at least the opinions of those they come into contact with. Now half of her head is out of her ass, but the other half is still in there.

She is a fundamentalist no less than Dawkins, another academic.

  10. To all the cynics or critics or kretek above, you don’t have to forgive her or gag her. She doesn’t need your craps. She doesn’t need to apologise for her view on 377A nor to the gayist here or would be gayists.
To the tiny voice that calls for separation of religion and politics, tell me how?
Are not your values shaped by whatever religion you profess? An atheist or atheism is a religion, a religion that believes there is no god except yourself through evolution you evolve into a gay. This is your belief. No one is going to take away by force. You can promote it too but not by sword .This is democracy.

    To Peace #10,

The Wahhabi Fundamentalists are not only giving the rest of the Muslim Community a bad name, they also claim their actions represent the Muslim World. Meanwhile, their peace-loving Muslim compatriots become susceptible to hate crimes worldwide while Islam as a religion becomes increasingly misunderstood.

Do you want the same thing to happen to Christianity? What happen to God’s love for all his people and his creation? Since when people like you get to decide who should receive God’s love or not? You are only one step short of crashing a Boeing 747 into CMPB. After all, a true terrorist is not compromising fundamentalist, isn’t it?

you are very confused..lah. fundamentalism is not hate in Christianity. It is love. Please get your facts correct. You read about Mis thio’s admission that she was at first angry when she was threatened but love turned it into forgiveness. Opposing view doesn’t mean hate. You have distorted. You hate the chrisitains. You have defined funandamentalism as violence to fit your fantasy of violence and terrorism.
You should be the one to crash your head into CMPB to make you have more sense.
Fundamentalism is about extreme love. eg, love your enemy; turn your left cheek etc. These are the underpinnings of fundamentalist christianity.
small_vice, don’t think indulging in little vice is not vice. it is still a VICE.

You are the one confused. We all agreed that Christianity is about God’s love while you are the one claiming to be representation of God’s wrath. This is where you fundies differ from the rest of God-loving folks.

  14. smallvice-585,
why do you use derogatory term like fundies instead of fundamentalist s if you mean fundamentalists? IS the meaning of word fundies different from fundamentalist? or does fundies mean ‘fun dies’? You seem to think so. All God loving christians are fundamentalists…it is fundamental…no compromise..that is complete submission…but speak up without fear if something is wrong and that is what the prof . has been doing. She didn’t say she hated gays or lesbians.
God loving doesn’t mean you are dumb and let crime being committed before your eyes. Do you know that if you do that you are also party to the crime; you are abetting in the commission of the crime.
Wrath belongs to God. Vengence belongs to God. Christianity has no Jihad doctrine.

All the comments are well said. PAP is out to totally control every aspect of our life. See for yourself….NKF, then Raffles Town Club, then RenCi etc…akan datang more churches will be dragged into courts. This is the PAP tactic and strategy of total control till you cannot breathe! PAP works through methodist church against other churches, family members against family members, AWARE group against AWARE group etc….. see for yourself for more are to come….Beware of Ceaser before his death!

Interesting thoughts you have, I thought the AWARE group has very powerful backing, even political. They said even Josie was able to “fix” her boss on friday night. Look, List A can’t be fighting with List A, right?

  20. There are posters who are confused. They know not what hey are saying.. Like ARK, after being left out of the ARK he is so bitter that he or she is shooting at anything. Some say fundamentalist are terrorist or like the Talibans , he says fundamentalists are cowards. He is revengeful and he likes to see fundamentalists being attacked for next few weeks. He is hardly here,. He sneaks around for sniper attack but not much bang except sour after taste.. He is bitter indeed.
There is one fortune teller here who fortells the chaos among the churches. At the centre of this chaos is the PAP who is mentioned here for the first time.
There is one who thinks that minsters should not attend church.
it is really kepala pusing here.Anyhow shoot. Hope they won’t get shot by their own bullets.

    Dear #20 Peace,

If you do not know how to separate religion and politics, I cannot help you except to advise you to do the due diligence required. It is not difficult.

My fellow netizens were trying to tell you the dangers of fundamentalism. If you do not know, let me just simplify by telling you that the main fault with it is its uncompromising nature and the resultant intolerance of differing views.

Incidentally, atheism is NOT a religion. If you do not know what a religion is, please look up any dictionary.

This article should not have had to be written in th first place, and now one can see, and take a look at all these postings here – to be honest, what is the subject are we writing and calling out about, the person, the values of that person or of values itself, values of learning, humbling, forgiveness, tolerances etc etc.
If its about the person, the person who bears the name of Thio Li-ann, then can I request dont write about him or her. I dont begrudge the liberty and freedom and choice that one can exercise, but please no one has an ‘unlimited licence’.
