One example of foresight that he cited: How Singapore, seeing that China was rising, had gone out of its way to be helpful, such as with the Suzhou industrial park. The experience has given us “an entree into all the cities of China”. “They are sending their mayors, about 111 of them, to NTU (Nanyang Technological University), learning how to manage a city. So everybody in China at the city level knows of Singapore, and businesses from Singapore will find open doors.”
MM Lee Kuan Yew, as reported by Today (CNA video)

So how come the Taiwanese are doing sooo well in China, not us?
The mayors learn that S’poreans do not do ang pows?
Suzhou is a giveaway – it is true that it is a learning process.
Keep learning at the expense of the state coffers.
Tianjin Ecocity ? Guangzhou Knowledge City ? are they creations of SM who now has nothing to do ? SM will be gone when the bottom line is known! Excuses to fly SQ 1st class and make many trips to China ?
More learning of course!
Congratulations to all the big guns involved
Businesses are about profit and losses. What we had done will count for nothing if Malaysia offers opportunity for them to earn greater profits.
If you read the rest of the Today Online article, you will find that LKY is up to his sleeve to scaremonger Singaporeans into voting the corrupt PAP into power.
honestly let’s just not bash the government for the sake of bashing the government. one of their strengths is excellent long-term policies, this may be just one of them.

hh size does not matter. It is where the G-spot counts.
When things are right and successful he woefully claims his foresight at work.
But what happened to the around 40% LOSS by Temasek/GIC – what is he claiming – 4sight or 5sight?
He forgot to mention that the Singapore arrogant caused the Chinese to open a rival park besides the Suzhou Park with many companies relocating to the new park.
The Suzhou Park was never a success story :X
China has no need for Singapore these days , not even to communicate , a lot of Chinese speak better English than Singaporeans . And as for education , over half the subjects studied in China are on no curriculum of any Singapore institution . They can’t even learn about running cities , Singapore in comparison is so small , and has none of the climatic and other conditions of living in the North and inland , nothing to learn from Singapore .
