Mags
RIP, JBJ.
May your legacy live on.
One day the sons, and daughters of Singapore will remember you
among the founding father’s of Singapore,
not in the league of nation-builders such as MM Lee,
nor in the league of expert crisis managers such as SM Goh and PM Lee Hsien Loong,
but in a league of his very own, forging democracy for the common men and women who make up every one else in the non elite stratas of Singaporean society.

one of the ST writers portrayed JBJ’s 1981 Anson By-Election in the same light as Josie’s abuse of the democratic mechanism
Really? Which report?
Thanks.

A tireless fighter and a great man.

The best way to honour this great man who fought for us, the ordinary folks here, is to continue his fight. Let us support the good and courageous men who are laying their lives on the line to speak up for us, men like Dr Chee Soon Juan. We must not allow fear and apathy stop us from doing what is right.
Ian Augustine
It was nice to see the old warrior doing what he was known to have been doing all his adult life: Fighting for the basic human dignity of Singaporeans. You got bankrupt, went to jail and persecuted for your beliefs. Even President Obama campaigned and won on your slogan: ‘A change we can believe in.’ You fought hard, you fought well, so hold your head up high, JBJ. You will always remain our hero. Pray the Good Lord grant you Eternal Rest.

What is sickening about ST Coverage on the AWARE Saga is that towards the end, one of the ST writers portrayed JBJ’s 1981 Anson By-Election in the same light as Josie’s abuse of the democratic mechanism. Obviously, the writer didn’t account for the fact that JBJ was re-elected to the same seat in 1984.
