Opposition parties & their leaders must beware of such ‘Greeks bearing gifts’ situations. This is especially so when the PAP seemingly understands the entire opposition camp much better than the fragmented opposition camp understands itself.

“Opposition parties & their leaders must beware of such ‘Greeks bearing gifts’ situations. This is especially so when the PAP seemingly understands the entire opposition camp much better than the fragmented opposition camp understands itself.”Yaw Shin Leong
The above quote was attributed to Yaw Shin Leong. Since I have stopped reading his blog after his last fiasco, I will simply just comment on this quotation without referring to the context in which he had stated that quote.
Based on his above statement, I can’t help but think that he seems to know a lot about the PAP and the opposition camp. So, I wonder how is it so?
Therefore, my next question: Is he a spy implanted by the PAP into the opposition camp?
This has been my suspicion all the while – especially so after he carelessly revealed his preference to vote for the PAP candidate instead of a opposition candidate in GE2006. So, with his above statement, it again raise my suspicion at least a notch higher.
Nevertheless, I stand to be corrected if I am deemed to be wrong in my perception.
“when the PAP seemingly understands the entire opposition camp much better than the fragmented opposition camp understands itself”
If opposition that dumb, power to the PAP.
P ..P ..PAP. When China becomes a democracy, N Korea, Burma and S’pore will the last three autocracies stand.
But so long as Opposition and people allow it, what can anyone say? Vox pouli
“This has been my suspicion all the while – especially so after he carelessly revealed his preference to vote for the PAP candidate instead of a opposition candidate in GE2006.”
I’m not too sure if he is indeed careless rather than deliberate. My feel is that it is deliberate and he just want to be truthful, nothing more of a conspiracy. If he is really a mole, he will have common-sense to keep silent about his vote rather than asking for trouble. If he is indeed wrong to vote for what he believe, how about those MPs who are representative to the PAP that vote for opp party ? Do we assume that every MPs should vote for every policies fish out by their master after all “you don’t bite the hand that feed you”?
Beside, does that mean those opp party members who “secretly” vote for PAP means that they are no more supportive of their own party ? I don’t think so, whether the members chose to reveal their vote or to vote for opposite camp is their prerogative, not for us to judge.
I think this guy has a personality problem, that is indiscretion rather than being a mole.
PAP is not so stupid as to use him as a mole. They can find higher calibre moles if they want to. Moles, if they are of calibre, don’t even arise the slightest suspicions at all throughout their role.
Yaw is right.
Tho I want to see change for a long time,
I am disappointed by the Opposition parties here.
To me only, it appears they are incapable of coming together for the common cause to fight for the PEOPLE and choose instead to still take things very personally. They must temporarily let go of their differences and personal preferences how they want to campaign and form a strong coalition to win more seats given more seats are now available. Loose this chance and they may not have a chance to fight back if seats are taken up by NMPs (guess who picks the chosen one?)
Pls grow up faster Opposition parties. u have my vote regardless.
who can guarantee the coalition govt of a group of political parties will not be embroiled in a long endless fight for power among themselves? they may have succeeded in outvoting the “previous” party, but does S’pore on the whole benefit from their “success”?
think of it, such a coalition could destroy S’pore in 1 term. other downside of such a coalition is also ultimately who will take responsibility when things go wrong? paliamentary “finger pointing” session anyone?
wayang is bad, drama is not any better.
I don’t think it is such a bad thing that the PAP knows the Opposition camp better than the Opposition know themselves.
However, that doesnt subtract from what the Opposition already know of the motives behind the PAP’s latest ploy.
It is also a good sign to see the PAP bowing to some of the demands made by the people. It is a clear sign too that the PAP is indeed showing fear that it has lost some mass support and wants to recover the lost ground.
Even if Yaw didnt make it explicit, we all really can tell the entire Opposition camp is not one monolithic bloc. Neither do one really believe they can gel into one united front. But it doesnt matter really.
What is vital now is for each component in the Opposition to seize the chance and exploit the foot in the door to gain exposure and visibility and credibility in Parliament as a force to be reckoned with. At the same time, they must keep hammering at the entire edifice until the PAP’s wall of invincibility comes down.
Take the inch to grab the yard. The electorate is not stupid – they know NCMPs and NMPs can’t vote on Bills, and the electorate will come back for more.
Wow Kingrant;;;Uare the ‘man’ man;;;U are a ‘god’ man;;;U can really put things in a nutshell man;;;I marvel at your wisdom man;;;I know u are a real King man;;;Keep up the good work man.
Of course the PAP seemingly understands the entire opposition camp much better than the fragmented opposition camp understands itself. They also know that there are opposition party members and candidates like Yaw who will vote for the better PAP candidtates instead of their fellow opposition candidates.
Yaw was politically naive and was indoctrinated by PAP propaganda like the 66% of the electorate. Opposition candidates should vote for one another for the sake of solidarity which was what LKY tried to achieve in 1963-1965 when facing the might of UMNO while we were in Malaysia. He was trying to get the other opposition parties together to fight for Malaysian Malaysia. Fortunately or unfortunately he failed. His dream for his Malaysia was shattered.
