From the Jakarta Post:
The family of David Hartanto Widjaja, an Indonesian student who died at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on March 2, and a local verification team doubt the Singaporean court process of his death.
The coroner court under the subordinate court in Singapore has been processing the case to decide whether David’s death was a suicide. If it not, then the case will be forwarded to the criminal court.
However, it appeared the court process was intentionally directed to a conclusion of suicide despite evidence showing a strong possibility of murder, according to David’s family and the verification team.
“We have strong evidence that he was murdered but that fact was not brought up in the court,” David’s father, Hartono Wijaya, told a press conference Tuesday at the National Commission on Human Rights.
“Testimonies from witnesses presented by the NTU were fictitious and none of our witnesses was brought to the court.”
Djaja Surya Atmadja, a forensic expert from the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Indonesia, said any forensic doctor could see from the forensic report that David’s body had defense wounds, and that there were no wounds of suicide.
Djaya and another forensic doctor, Evi Untoro, analyzed the case based on the forensic report. Using a mannequin, they visually demonstrated the locations and forms of wounds that David had…

CSI?
Fatal liason with NTU lecturer?
Sodomy?
Sex lies and video tapes?
Great imagination.
I don’t believe it is so, because Singapore does not have high creativity. These stories or conspiracy theories are hollywood stuff and Agatha Cristie’s stuff. Not likely that the courts and coroner can conjure up such a movie.
For all the heat the courts get for political reasons, how are they going to carry themselves in with actual cases? If there really is some underhanded stuff going about, It is going to erode what little trust I have left for this ‘pillar’ of the land.
for national sympathy and attention, blame others
I think the final verdict will still be “suicide”. This I am as sure as the PAP will win the next election.
I don’t doubt hte system……but at the same time …..the system must not create any doubts…..
However, I did …read the Iranii girl, giving some evidence and a boy video taping the whole incident…mmmm…….
These witnesses…. were they in court…under oath….
Quote
“Testimonies from witnesses presented by the NTU were fictitious and none of our witnesses was brought to the court…..Unquote.
(from TOC article….Make it clear please)
Reasonable doubt….must be cleared….Thus…a good jugde would expect the witness on the stand…..if not at least on live video….
TOC, can you please provide any detail with regards to witnesses being on the stand……if not why….
Our judiciary must not be questioned….
Must not be questioned as in…..their job..unless there is a strong reason….and that must be stated….and usually will be stated by the presiding judge…
quote… none of our witnesses was brought to the court…unquote…
Who are these people…OUR WITNESS…were they the familiy’s witnesses….or the people at the scene….
TOC…plese make it clear…..
“Testimonies from witnesses presented by the NTU were fictitious and none of our witnesses was brought to the court.”
Right. All the witnesses are fake. Paid to give false testimonies. The video is fake too. They employ some mediacorp extra to film the video and present to court.
In fact, David not dead yet. The body is fake one. He is currently being locked up in some underground lab to do a top secret military project for Singapore. We believe his FYP will lead to the development of Gundam mobile suit for our army. Which we will use it to invade the rest of the world.
HAHAHA
You are so funny –> gundam
The next time Singapore chooses their scholars, they better do a sanity check on their immediate family as well.
No comments on the Jakarta Post article as i’m not present thus in no way would I know the truth.
But the phrase “Is the family still in Denial?” placed there by TOC or by Jakarta Post?
If it’s done by TOC, is it of TOC’s opinion that the family is in denial and that they are only grabbing air?
Does this also mean that TOC is judging the outcome of a Case before it finish?
Just wondering aloud.
the Jakarta Post article also noted 2 other mysterious deaths immediately following the David case. Could TOC verify that?
If what they allege is true, then there’s something really fishy going on.
Apart from the 2 mysterious death, there are 15 dog, 12 cats, 93 rats, 1 bird, 27 fishes, 384766382135393 ants, 983 cockroaches and 34 lizards that died since the incident. We have reasons to believe that these mysterious death are also related to the case. Can the police look into this? Something really fishy is going on here.
@ Joker : your statistics of the deaths is unreliable… The Fact is there is 3 cases happened. The first one is David’s alleged suicide. second, Zhou Zheng (if i am not wrong), a project officer found hanged on his room. He is from the same faculty as David and according to NTU, started to work there at the day David was found death. The third case is a researcher from the same faculty too. He was hit by a car when he was reaching a bus stop. (the details of the third accidents is somewhat unclear because there is no report on MSM. )
You seem so childish when you wrote about the dog, cats and rats…. ignorance!
@Rocker
The third case was reported in the evening papers but no point bringing a relationship with the former two, since it’s just a case of road-traffic accident and just so happened that they all come from the same faculty. This third case does not have any relations as far as we know with the first two.
must call tangkee and cleanse NTU of all evil spirit.
Very interesting statement…
Hartono also showed pictures of David’s corpse. A deep cut at the neck, splintered legs and defense wounds all over his arms and hands all showed that he did not commit suicide. All these facts were never mentioned in the Singaporean court.
splintered legs.. I thought this guy jumped from a high place.. would his limbs be splintered hmm…
defence wond… both victim and attacker can have defence wound. When the victim defended himself from the attacker, he may actually hit back. Imagine someone attacked you with a knife, you may perhaps hold/grip the attached forearm to protect yourselves, this may cause bruises on the attackers hand… hmm… maybe I have been watching too many CSIs series
hmmm…i believed 2 or 3 ppl witnessed his suicide but the family say they are not credible??? The family now have the burden to individually prove that the witnesses are lying which i highly doubt they can prove
They should hire their own PI to do an investigation if they really has doubts.
I think they may call a seance next…
Ghost whisperer any one?
Jokes aside, there are just too many “defence” wounds unless the victim was aiming to maim his attacker – but it is not surprising as the best defence is offense…
If someone attacked me with a knife, my initial reaction would be to put my attacker out of action and fast…
What is the reason given for clearing up the incident scene for Widjaya’s case so fast? Why did they cremate the body instead of spending more time on forensic tests to determine his deathjust after 2 days???
Do come to watch the trial if readers of TOC have questions. its an open court hearing.
Yes, there were two other deaths after Hartono’s death, but they were unrelated deaths.
Also, his body was not cremated before any tests were conducted. There were autopsy reports, and these reports and photos of his organs were examined in open court.
It is also untrue that none of their witnesses were brought to court. In fact, just today, 2 indonesian boys, friends of Hartono, were up on the stand for questioning.
