From The Guardian:

Michael Jackson, the American pop legend, died of a heart attack in a Los Angeles hospital last night, just weeks before he hoped to resurrect his four-decade long career with a series of sold-out shows in London.

Jackson was taken to the University of California at Los Angeles medical centre last night, and paramedics administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the ambulance. He did not regain consciousness and was reported dead about three hours later.

Earlier his father, Joe Jackson, had told the TMZ.com website: “He is not doing well.”

The site reported that a 911 call came in to emergency services at 12.21pm local time from his Holmby Hills home in Los Angeles. Once at the hospital, staff tried to resuscitate him but Jackson did not respond, the website said.

The website said his sister, La Toya, was seen running into the hospital sobbing.

What will happen to the ticket holders who bought the concert tickets for Michael Jackson’s final concert held at O2 Stadium in Greenwich, London? The tickets had been sold out in April 2009 but there will be no performance. The tickets are not cheap too.

He is the King of Pop no matter he was Black or White..

  18. Not really a shock if you .... 27 June 2009

Actually someone close to him remarked that he was not surprised that Michael Jackson died.

So not really a shock except to outsiders and fans.

Michael Jackson has the fame and the wealth. But in later years he did not take care of his reputation, wealth and even health. So no surprise to those who know him well that he ended up dead a bit too early.

  19. It was just announced that actress Farrah Fawcett had just died, and within a couple of hours, breaking news- Michael Jackson was dead!

I was shocked to hear about MJ’s death.

He was truly iconic, as an entertainer, but sadly flawed in his life.

News information say that MJ was in debt to the tune of $400million.
Now that MJ is gone, he, his memorabelia, music, will be worth millions more.
I reckon the Jackson Family, MJ’ s ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, and others, will be fighting for MJ’s kids (he has 2 from Debbie Rowe, n 1 kid is from a surrogate).

From the news that keep coming out, we learn that MJ had his OWN Doctor.
Whether the Dr, who gave MJ the injection of Demoral ( an opiate from the morphine)- is left to be seen.

We do know that MJ was on painkillers, and other meds, MJ did owe a Beverly Hills pharmacy- well over $100,000 in meds.

We also know, that the day before- MJ was rehearsing at the Staples Center, in California, in preparation for his UK tour.

I think MJ was weak, he had lost a great deal of weight. His daunting tour was on his mind, add in the strong painkillers, the anti-depression meds MJ was taking- the last painkiller jab was probably too much for his frail body- leading to a heart attack.

It certainly was not suicide. MJ’s body just could not handle the dose of painkiller injection…his last.

For me, Michael Jackson will be sadly missed. May he rest in peace.

  22. That's Life 27 June 2009

David Carradine, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, all recent deaths of rich and famous stars. All had wealth and fame, but were are they now?

“And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement” Heb 9:27

…..certaintly life is more than just a matter of 50, 60 or 70 years.

  23. Michael Jackson was a very good singer and I loved all his music.
I wish I could have met him in person.
I would have loved to shake is hand.
I will mist him very much.Rest in peace Michael.

  24. Michael Jackson is an AMAZING Person , he has a caring heart and will ALWAYS be the best Entertainer. Such a genius and will never be replaced. My Daughter and I attended his 45th B’Day Party and he was so sweet to talk to, he spoke to me about Glasgow, Scvotland, Edinburgh and he really liked it there on his visits.
People that think he is weird or wacko, I think that is sad. Don”t Judge a book by its cover. There are many werd people out in the world. He was loved for being the Greatest Performer and for being such a caring person.
He was done wrong in his short life.
His Childhood was taken away from him and My heart goes out to Michael Jackson.
    R.I.P Michael

We enjoy the songs of a singer
We enjoy the movie of an actor
We really do not know these famous people other than their songs and movies
We appreciate their significant impact in making this world a little bit more beautiful
The rest of what they do in their own personal life is irrelevant to us.
    R.I.P Michael

  26. David 27 June 2009

I am more concerned about his children. They are still young and who will take care of them?

    Here is my favourite. Enjoy.

  27. I wrote on his 50th Birthday last year. Planning to write again this year, probably on his 51st birthday and about his “This Is It” concert. Instead, now I have to write about his demise. Well.. this is it, I guess.

  28. The songs, the dance… the best ever in Pop culture. But the person… I don’t know what to say except ‘troubled.’ But I have one thing to say to those parents who loved to lend their children to Jacko, “There goes your money machine.” What kind of parents would do that? My parents would not even allow me to stay overnight at friends’ house, friends my age, let alone this man way…way… older than me with make-up and weird complexion.

while some of us enjoy his songs,
    to some
