May she be peaceful in her rest. No doubt, she will often be cited whenever it is convenient to raise alarm on ethnic/cultural/religious tensions. Perhaps, one day, maturity will grow with the coming of generations to come such that the use of such ’scarecrows’ will no longer be necessary. Then perhaps we can see how much Maria Hertogh, her biological parents, her adoptive parents and the community then and today were really all eqally victims caught in the midst of a political playground.

Last she was interviewed, she still profes her love to her first husband, Mansoor Adabi. When in one of his letter, he say that he’s going to marry one of his student (Mansoor Adabi was a teacher), Maria felt very sad and heartbroken. It kind of remind me of the movie Titanic. how the old women still love Leonardo Decaprio even after she’s remarried and have childrens. of course the different is instead of being dead, Mansoor Adabi moved on and became succesful lawyer and a wealthy man. beside that, She also claimed that her time with Che Aminah, her adoptive mother, was the happiest time in her life.
