There is no need for the affected workers to be disheartened as there are still 25,000 jobs available in the market.

like what? cleaning toilet? handle strayed dogs and cats?
This is a silly statement. 25,000 jobs could require a diploma minimum and age below 35. The 2,000 may not qualify for any of them.
we’re just numbers to them. beggars can’t be choosers? lol…
i wonder which of the 25000 jobs will Mr Gan KY choose. i hope he not choosey lah. :P
#2, ya correct silly statement, pay them millions of dollars, they come up with silly statement. No need to be disheartened of course lah, your pay so high !! people retrenched and get a job as toilet cleaner, no need to be disheartened, very smart minister, if you come back to CCK single seat, I will definitely vote you out, my friends and families will vote you out, I better vote Steve Chia, or any opposition member, who are more capable. Residents of CCK, please be united and show him the door !!!
Soon all the MIW becomes millionaires and inviting all the FT to share their joy and celebration while all the citizens becomes beggars on the street. But then again, who cares!!!!! anything bad happen to singapore, these MIW will just packed and flee the coountry first, you stupid people have yourselves to blame and no one else.
Anyway it is the recruiter who has the say not Manpower minister.
The right skills for the job. Wrong skill no talk.
No skill sit there and rot.
You need to review recruitment policy for the not so fortunate
who are above 40 years. They are not really useless or just
suited for cleaners, masseure, and kitchen helper jobs.
Some of them have skills and experience that surpasses above
the younger ones.
Always sick of ministers talking like this to resolve problems from the job front.
This also happened when Temasek lost $50 billion and we only heard that “Everybody else also lost what! We have make gains of more than 20 percent yearly since we started to invest…” words to that effect.
They should have use their brains more than their mouth here.
Job credits scheme policy effective? Really?
How about Third Child incentive policy? How about H1N1 pandemic handling strategies?
…. starting to find these new generation of leaders not so effective afterall
Did he conveniently forget to mention that there’s another 160000 plus unemployed people out there also? Does he think that 25000 jobs is enough to go around?
Guess the only thing he doesn’t have to worry about is his million dollar pay package which he will still be getting every year.
This million$$ minister talks like an idiot. Does he expect Singaporeans to be idiots?
it means the gahmen’s Jobs Credit Scheme has failed lar. Can the Straits Times kindly report this.
This idiot fart again, better not go near him or else you inhale his poison gas and got sick.
Lay off this minister. Then tell him no need to be disheartened. There are still 25,000 jobs available in the market.
116,400 Jobless and 25,000 Jobs available? Oh ya, by the way how many FTs are we getting in the fill the 25,000 jobs? 26,000 or 30,000 maybe? What’s left for Singaporeans?
Lower income Singaporeans and those who lost their jobs are worried about supporting themselves and their families as the costs of living in Singapore is simply too high. With the Government target of growing the population to 6million, there is wide spread and deep resentment brewing because of intense competition, overcrowding and rapidly rising costs of living.
For the first time, more than 34 million Americans received food stamps, which help poor people buy groceries, government figures a sign of the longest and one of the deepest recessions since the Great Depression.
We have now 30million Americans have no jobs.
I don’t know about Singapore,
but in America, people are still losing their jobs.
Dont’ bother looking at the US stockmarket, that’s NOT an indicator at all.
Is it bad here? It’s a bloodbath.
Companies are scaling down, cutting back on all their staff. When that happens, the unemployed have 3 months of unemployed benefits, which then ENDS, n so do their healthcare!
No job, can’t pay the house mortgage, – Americans will live in tent cities, in their cars, churches, etc… everywhere in America.
New grads cannot get jobs here. It’s really very bad here, and there media ‘plays it down’.
If USA could offer some relief to their citizen and being the capital of capitalism, where social welfair is a cold and dirty word, surely Sinkapore could do more without fear of being labelled socialist or communist. It is just simple humanity. Every economist had agreed this recession is profound and may last longer then originally anticipated. A little helping hand to those who deserve it is part of the responsibilty of any gahment. Are we still going for the title of uniquely Sinkapore? Or is the gahment think the money in the treasury is their for keep. May I remind them, it is our money and we demand that some of it be spent on the old and needy to give them freedom from hunger and offer a little dignity in old age. It is just a simple human gesture to our fellow citizen. To cast them a side and force the extended family to support them is just runing away from their own responsibilties.
He should sent out a list of these available jobs. At least people knows whether these vacancies are really suitable for them.
Lately, we had been hearing statements made by the so called “millionaires” ministers which really turn us off. Do we pay them millions to make off hand statements without betting an eye for the pride of the citizens. Look here, I am above fifty I am trying to find a job for months without success, even such low level job as a dish washer. The way the government acted is a foregone conclusion. Those citizens who cannot help themselves are a burden to them, therefore they are just digits to make up the number. So I would like to ask the government in future if you make any decision that affect citizens livehood, please come out with something better even if you have no intention to help.
