The weakening economy, rather than race and religion, is the greatest threat to national harmony, according to NUS students.

In a non-scientific poll of 30 students from various academic disciplines conducted by the Observer, 70 per cent of respondents said they did not agree with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that issues of race and religion have the greatest potential to cause social unrest in Singapore.

Lee highlighted the twin issues of race and religion as “the most visceral and dangerous fault line” in Singapore during his National Day Rally speech on Aug. 16.

    We are both looking at issues with different colored sunglasses.

    I can see that you’re quite entrenched in your views, which must be in conqruent with your current line of thought and perception which in turn is influenced by current life situation..

  3. to all concern pls take mr. lee’s speech as a precautionary advice.
    you have seen how sensitive race and religion in our neighbouring countries which
    can go out of control.

    we must be proud that spore is living with all races with understanding
    of one another.

    as for down-turn of the economy it’s wrold-wide.
    so as singaporeans help one another in this hard-times.

    all least this time LHL speaked about more serious issue not the returning of food tray. recently there was some head honcho in TH, aka HJ spoke about breastfeding, something more to home than losing billions in foreign land.
