Indeed a shrewd move by the Burmese junta.
keeping the American as prisoner serves no purpose when they have already achieved their objective, which is to neutralise Suu Kyi.
Quite possibly another PAP advice in the art of hoodwinking ?

I wonder how much the American was paid to do the job?

  3. A brilliant move by the likes of the Americans, the French etc. if Suu Kyi comes to power she would have made sure that the vast reserves of oil and other resources would directly benefit the burmese and the French who run TOTAL(Oil n Gas) and the rest who have major interests in Myanmar understand that she cannot be corrupted,.

Understandably they bankroll the junta. The junta ain’t the evil , they are just puppets to the bigger power.

When Suu Kyi’s party last came to power they got the junta overthrow the party.

  4. if she is not house arrested, she would have been dead.

This a ridiculous judgement. The instigator and perpetrator set free but
the victim took the heat and punishment.
Wayang kulit couldn’t have been better staged.
And to think our likeminded Govt didn’t hesitate to heap praise on the junta’s
    magnanimity from that FM’s statement?

  6. Is it just me or doesn’t anybody see how wrong this is. The stupid american should have been given to the junta to do with as they like, and the senator should have been there to have Suu Kyi released, instead as per normal the Americans are celebrating the release of their village idiot, while the important person for democracy stays under the junta control.
No wonder the world looks to american’s with the contempt that they so richly deserve, and this comes from a christian, first world, democratic living westerner.
You ignorant seppos really need to realize the turmoil you are constantly putting the rest of humanity under and get a damn life.

The suffering of one American overshadows that of the Burmese population. That’s why John Yettaw was released.

  8. This really put our Govt in a fix.

Let Singaporeane see them for who they really are.

I, and many others, believe that this idiot was paid by the burmese military to “see” Suu Kyi so that they can extend her imprisonment. Shame on him! His name is now in the history books as the person who has lengthened the suffering of the Burmese people! Shame on him.
