And Americans have been lecturing countries like China for inhumane
slaughter of animals when this is happening right at their doorstep.

Just because Americans involved are wrong here doesn’t mean that China should be given the green light for its atrocious practices.
As long as any country abuses or allows its corporations to practice atrocities, they should be highlighted and censored internationally.

i think its not about countries, but about being responsible companies – profits are one thing but behaving responsibly on this earth. What we need is more vigilant reporting and awareness.
I remember watching a documentary, Baraka, done by the famous Ron Ficke, where he used images of these factories to Auschwitz and the Holocaust, and the killing fields of Cambodia. The industrialisation of death – if humans are capable of doing it to themselves, why not animals?
the video was disturbing indeed.

#5: You mean “censured”?
Anyway if the main parties at fault are the American MNCs, they’ll move anywhere that allows them to mistreat animals? So you’d need the American govt to do something about it.
Pity Obama has so much on his plate.

this is really cruel.
People should cut their meat consumption to just twice a week. It’s impossible to get everyone to turn vegetarian – eating meat just twice a week will mean less chickens, cows, goats and fish killed.

Not to mention that a vegetarian diet is better for your health and imposes less stress on our planet Earth.

TOC had earlier posted a documentary ‘earthlings”
Thought that was good too.
Life is oftentimes full of hard choices.
Like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Like choosing between a rock and a hard place.
Agree with # 9) Sceptical that people should cut their meat consumption to just twice a week.
We can moderate our consumption of meat if we cannot avoid it altogether.
But one need to be mindful of the misconception that a vegetarian diet equals to a healthy diet.
The vegetarian food sold at hawkers centres are mostly fried stuff with lots of flour, not too good if one is eating too much of that.
Eating more vegy, fruits and nuts in its original form would be better.
And I personally do not believe in consuming “mock meat” in veg food places.
It is quite a mockery to do that.

My point is not to absolve the Chinese for their wrongdoings,
infact I detest the Chinese dictatorial communist government just like ours.
But isn’t it hypocritical and double standards for the Americans or the West
to cry foul of the about certain things not done to their likings in other other
countries ? Such attitudes are also manifested in the political sphere where
some dictatorial regimes with bad human rights records are cuddled
(like Saudi Arabia) while others are slammed (like China)

Strangely, we have heard complains about killing of animals etc and people asking others to reduce meat consumption…
then what about deforestation to create more farm land?
Triple Threat
Instead of blaming America and China (like those ignorant people above), we should blame ourselves for consuming them almost everyday. If there is no strong demand from consumers, these chickens would not have suffered the horrible fate shown in the video. Period.

Thank you for mentioning deforestation. Yes, a lot of deforestation is happening to create farm land – to feed cattle – not human beings; more than 50% of the corn an oats grown in the US is fed to livestock instead of people. It takes about 10kg of plant food (which poeple can eat) to produce 1 kg of beef; not to mention the extra land needed (more deforestation) to house lovestock and the pollution created in the process of producing meat.

Yes you are right to say that a vegetarian diet is not necessary a healthy diet. A healthy diet is one that is balance, regardless whether it’s meat-based or plant-based. However the argument here that a vegetarian diet is inherently healthier than a meat-based one. Firstly, a plant-based diet is free of cholesterol and has much lower saturated fat content compared to a meat-based diet. Secondly, you almost never hear of the link between cancer and a plant-based diet.
There are 2 types of mock meat available in foodstalls – gluten based and soy based. Gluten is a protein derived from the ‘flour’, whereas soy is self-explanatory. Soy protein is a much higher quality protein compared to gluten.
If you look past the forms, mock meat is nothing but a source of protein (a essential component of a balance diet) derived from plant food.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You do know your food.
On days I want to go veg diet, I will rather eat only non meat food.
I will choose to eat bean curd rather than have it disguised as a pig or chicken :)
The oil used to cook the veg food matters too. Oftentimes at hawker stalls, the oil used are not too great for us.
Yes, meat with it all the antibiotics and stuff that comes witth industrial farms is one cause of cancer. Plants with too much pesticides also becomes a cancer risk.
FYI the veg from up north Camoron generally exceed the safe levels of pesticides.
Cancer is also due to rapid degeneration of our body due to long term malnutrition, so,ething we would thought a food paradise like Singapore would not have, but in reality we eat stuff to keep us feeling full but grossly lacking in nutreints, due to processing or overcooking.
Ultimately, watching what we eat, and eating in moderation, is the key to good health.
Wishing you good health
Live long and prosper !

The human race must learn to appreciate what nature has given to us.
Deforestation will eventually affect crops as weather goes cuckoo. River pollution is also another aspect that will affect crops. Overfishing yet another.
When we exploit Mother Earth, we are only really exploiting ourselves.

I don’t know why my response to #14 Yamamoto got stuck in moderation, so I’m gonna re-post.

There are lots of information regarding environment and veganism on suprememastertelevision.com. I learn a lot from this site, just thought I share. I have also become a vegan now and I have never felt healthier in my 38 years. I finally completed a marathon and my resting heart rate came down from a high 60s to a low 58 now. Something not possible just a few years ago. I held back turning vegetarian for a long time as it’s commonly conceived that the diet will make us weak, it isn’t true. I would encourage everyone to try it out, and like Sceptical mentioned, it you cannot convert to veg, should at least cut back on meat and try to go veg twice a week. Good day to all.

some pollution created in the process of producing meat -
- animal waste, if not treated goes into the rivers/sea
- gas (ya these cows fart a great deal )
- blood, if not treated, goes into the rivers/sea
- pollution from animal farm machineries
- pollution from pesticides to grow food for the animals
- waste from unused parts of the slaughtered animals (if they not recvoycled as animal feed, – which is quite disgusting, making cannibals out of them by eating their own kind)
- supermarket packaging
- cold chain logistics – fuel burnt for power for refrigeration, trucking, airfeight
holy cow, the list goes on
I am not having steak for dinner tonight

#12 you’re right that the vegetarian food sold at hawker centres are usually unhealthy in their use of mock meat and oodles of oil.
A vegetarian diet can be healthy such as dish full of slivers of raw vegetable and nuts. While there are inexpensive vegetarian cafes that serve this kind of low-fat, low-carb, non-oily vege food, these outlets are not located in every corner.
Being a vegetarian requires some planning and sacrifice.
People who are shocked and moved by that clip and truly understand the meaning of non-violence would be moved to be vegetarian. If not 6 days a week, at least once a week – well, those who are O+ and who believe in eat right for your type diet will argue they need a bit of meat. But the operative here is “a bit”.
25) Skeptical
eat right for your blood type diet ,
yes, I read that book, and according to the author I am a veg person.
weening one off from a meat diet is much like quitting smoking, I think,
each has its way, some cold turkey, some one step at a time.
the operative here is “a bit”. – indeed.
if we say to ourselves we are not gonna eat meat ever again, we are more likely to fail in that commitment
In our haste of daily life , we not only never stop to smell the flowers, so to speak, we never give a thought of what we put into our body each day.
It is ironical that many of us are oftentimes busy making money at the expense of our health only to spent this money to regain our health.
So pause and think about that, are we living like mice on the threadmill wheel.
If so , do something about it.
As an example, think about that bowl of fish ball noodle.
My friend from Sarawak says she will never eat fish ball in front of her mum lest she will chide her for eating flour. Because the fishball in SG has degenerated into nothing but flour with some fish flavour, whereas back in her home town, a fish ball is a fish ball, no flour.
Same with the fish cake. Its flour. The noodle? It’s flour. So ther than a few measly slice of meat, you are really eating multiple flavours of flour, lots of bad oil and ajitnomoto to make it tasty.
The fish slices in the fish soup or fish porridge are sliced early in the morning, soaked in seasoning to make it tasty, all the nutrients gone by the time you consume it.

Thanks TOC for posting this! There is just no way to justify such a cruel act, which just goes to show how ‘far’ humanity has come.
Would also be helpful to show how frogs and turtles are being slaughtered to satisfy our greed…
