Jet Li – why I took up S’pore citizenship

Singapore is much cleaner and safer as compared to many other cities. However, the weather here is also much hotter. I was also attracted to the country’s bilingual education policy, diverse culture and the Western-style corporate culture.

Jet,why do u fret so much about the weather?get real man!u r a bankable star with millions of dollars in your pocket, you have investments strewn over the globe,u have set up a trust fund here, you will still be paid for endorsements, sports deals, martial arts conventions n what not, seriously man, what do u lack?

I wonder how many Sporeans feel after what u have mentioned here, even Gong Li will say the same, quote u as a classic example! What do u know about how Sporeans are having a hard time with their lives?

1) Sporeans are not superstars, just ordinary folks

2) Sporeans mostly are in the middle-class income category,we aint millionaires!

3) Sporeans have to slug it out day in,day out, worried about the future

4) Education in Spore is bloody expensive, are you willing to sponsor our local kids?

5) Are you game enough to create new jobs for Sporeans who are either jobless or retrenched n have mouths to feed?

6) Do you want to open up a charity drive where u distribute food, water, cash to struggling low-income n poor folks?

7) Can you recommend people who want to work in Hollywood, open up business or set up opportunities for all Sporeans who want a better life?

Is AEDES mosquito carrying DENGUE SAFE for living environment?

Have Jet seen videos by Andrew and those found on youtube about litters in public areas?

One thing I concur with Jet is the hot weather.

This humidity can not go away. You may say AirCon. Well, that cannot be compared to nice nice cool and refreshing weather found in most 1st worlds, if not ALL 1st worlds which have 4 seasons if not 2 or 3.

The other thing is Nature SCENERY. What is still virgin or natural scenery that can be found here that is as great as those found in other if ot the rest of the 1st worlds?

I am just waiting for the home prices to go even higher.

Some people say that Singaporeans who left for greener pasture are quitters….

Then when our countries welcome these new immigrants, are we welcoming quitters too?

So are we replacing “quitters” with quitters

Singaporeans contributed to the safe and clean environment. In the end, what do we get? Increasing housing prices and overcrowding. Only the rich landlords are benefiting.

You took up citizenship is nothing to do with majority of Singaporeans. If you are sincere, what kind of citizenship also can, if you have the heart to charity.

Sorry. We’re no longer taking orders from Caucasian colonist imperalists. Go do your job and subjugate Iraq and Afghanistan for not listening to you folks.

Divid and Rule policies don’t work any more , mate.

P.S. Leave Jet alone. If you can’t do great movies and start a foundation to donate to worthy causes please keep your big mouth shut. Shameful!

Clean:
Jet, singapore is a city.
its a very small country the size of just merely 1 city and that is it, just 1 city.
Which is more diffcult a country to be clean : china or singapore?

You sure or NOT

Jet Li has a purpose, he wants to set up his one foundation in Asia, so the best place would be Hongkong or Singapore. He never stay in Singapore, neither we hear him flying into Singapore, he is merely parking here because he needs a place to sell his foundation.

When you are rich, you can go anywhere you like. Just pay money, you can get Australian, NZ, Canada and perhaps even China.

Who Is More Stupid
Nov 19, 2009 1:58

Hongkongers and Taiwanese labelled Singaporeans as stupid, yet Jet Li saw it fit to migrate to Singapore and take up Singapore citizenship.

Isn’t he showing that he is more stupid than all of us combined.

Any Hongkongers reading this? One of your own kinds is even more stupid than Singaporeans.

Hahahahahaaaaa…..

I can understand when someone gives up something for another which is better.

It is understandable when something is given up for another thing which is better. It is understandable when someone is forced to give up something in search of something else he feels is worth pursuing. It is understandable if he is an unknown movie start wannabe seeking greener pasture (in this case it shouldn’t be Singapore). Generally, people run away from something in search of something that is better.

What is unfathomable is for one so rich and well-known, with choices thrown at this feet to still want to run away from something. What is it that Jet Li is running away from? Why does he need to give up his Chinese citizenship to adopt another that he knows nothing of?

Is he running away from repression? Is he running away from taxation? Is he running away from oppression? Why has he given up on China?

Whatever he is running away from can only be seen as the wicked side of human beings – the calculative, self-centered and self serving parts; and; these are what we are embracing with arms wide open and eyes wide shut. What can be so good about these attributes?

Same as with Gong Li, both are traitors to their motherland, defectors! Period.

Coolie Cool….

I think John Connor is a fictional character from Terminator :-)
And why does it invovles race in this conversation? Anyone (red, white, blue etc) has a right to be heard. Just because John Connor is from a particular ethnic, race etc doesnt mean that what they say are worthless. I hope singaporeans or all not that shallow…

Yamamoto et al,
People who moves are not quitters. This sort of thinking is very dangerous. Jet make an consciencious decision to start a new life here in singapore. Not because he “quit” any place. But because he found a pearl of great price and wants to get it. Stop being narror minded lah….

I think people seemed to missed the point. Singapore is a tax haven for the rich. If you are super rich, you pay very little or not tax compared to other first world or even third world countries.

So of course people will wax lyrical about Singapore. Why do you think so many Indonesians rich park their money here?
