PAP on New Media coverage of General Election 2010

Secretary-General Lee Hsien Loong said, “Using all the media people are comfortable and familiar with, then we can be present to contest with them [Loyal Opposition]. And if we see things that are not correct on websites which are respectable and reliable, then we have to be there to put our point of view so people will be able to know the facts and to respond to it.”

YPAP Chairman Teo Ser Luck said, “We don’t own the New Media. We don’t own that space. Opposition will have their space. The other parties will have their space too. But I think the way to win it … is that who can engage and communicate more effectively and who can be trusted.” What remains unanswered is how much space.

With the exception of the introduction of electronic voting, election regulation remains largely unchanged since GE2006. The Election Department retains power to harass independent groups on matters over financial remuneration for election advertisement while MDA can still apply administrative pressure on perceived political websites.

Not forgetting that the Prime Minister had said that “politics comes first”, don’t be surprised if underhand methods are being used to bring down servers of New Media websites or MSM may be used as a tool to discredit New Media websites through scandals during General Election. What all these politicking may achieve is all at the expense of the People.

I think the opposition parties can use new media eg. youtube to speak to the voters and get supporters and people to join them.

They should put up some videos on different issues every few days or once a week etc to share their thoughts. They should try to build up their membership list that subscribe to their newsletter/videos and seperate them in the different geographic areas to help them reach out to others in that grc in future.

I think people are still shy to join their party meet ups so videos are a good way to let others know about the party more before meeting.

PM: “And if we see things that are not correct on websites which are respectable and reliable, then we have to be there to put our point of view so people will be able to know the facts and to respond to it.”

- Which websites are not respectable and not reliable besides p65.sg?

- Since when have they ever put their point of view (he calls ‘facts’) in response to people’s ‘negative’ views?

““We don’t own the New Media. We don’t own that space”

Have you finished your nonsense ? So why stop there ? Continue for you if you are lazy and embarrass to elaborate further :

“On the other hand, we own the ISPs here. We own StarHub. We own Singtel. We own M1. So if something happen while accessing opp party video and site over the broadband, don’t blame us because we don’t own you a answer. “

“With the exception of the introduction of electronic voting,”

Haha, electronic voting where election department fall under the partisan PM who claim to fix opp party and buy supporter’s vote ? Even the police follow upper order blindly, so what’s more anonymous clowns in election department ?

Obama, you can’t be serious talking to the old fart and praising those hopping animals with tails.

Let’s examine the premise : If the ruling party sees things not correct, policy makers are to put their points across to clarify.
Let’s start with many of the credible arguments on various issues raised in the TOC forum.
(Total No. of arguments by TOC article writers)/(Total no. of clarifications made by policy makers over media) = a large number.
Assuming one is objective, we can write a book (at least one book) on the sheer silence over rebuttals of arguments by now.

If you win, win like a gentleman, if you lose, be a gentleman too and admit the defeat gracefully and not come out with all sorts of BS like whats been said. Do we find any grace and compassion in those MIW?

“The reality is that those who live in Ivory Towers honestly do not know they live in Ivory Towers.”

Don’t blame them lah. No wonder they start to believe that they are god and demi-god living in Ivory Heaven who can only trample on lesser mortal. Just look clearly at the video, you see the three Singapore clowns resemblancing (starting from the left) Zhu Ba Jie (豬八戒),Tang Shan Zhang and Niu Mo Wang (牛魔王). Who is the monkey god ? the big mouth of Singapore aka LSS ? They are now preparing their roles in “Journey to the west”, aka election. So who are the demons to these clowns ? Opp party ? Little wonder why the clowns have so much ‘magical weapon and instrument’ that can turn the black into white, and white into black.

So much for the Chinese folklore, now talking about the west, don’t you think they are Singapore version of three stooges ? Guess who is Singapore’s Moe Howard, Curly Howard and Larry Fine of Singapore ?

They can use the new media as much as they want, but perhaps they’re forgetting one key point: do people really care about the PAP news on the internet, considering their penetration in the mainstream media. Having news and views on both platforms may just bore people to death.

It’s such a sickening sight to see people whining about all the wrong doings of the government all time round because they simply can’t get what they wanted. What about the great things, the government provides? Hello? Can’t you all wake up from your dreamland and just stop whining and start contributing? Be glad that our country survived through all storms and adversities through the present government, though they are not perfect, but they did try their best to take care of us, so can’t we just be thankful and go on with life? Before criticising or anything, think about these questions first. 1. If we were to change government overnight, how will it affect the country and its people? 2. Can this new government be as able as the the present government

If the new government fail us, how would singapore be? Think and Think over again, before criticising, sure they have some policies that we don’t agree, but the government at least do make a huge effort of trying their best to think that of long term measures to aid us in the future. Don’t forget that as the world progresses, people are changing as well and if your eyes are opened, you’ll noticed that how the new generation people are behaving nowadays. So I urged you all to really think of the actions of yourselves and look at the big picture, before complaining, cause usually whiners are losers, real hardworking and useful ones will think of how to make bad situations better.
