Just some links to give us another refresher. In the end, the buck stopped just before reaching the Director ISD. In the previous case, the grunts bore the brunt of it, in this new case, it would not be far fetched that the 2 pharmacists are going to be the targets. Then in MSK case, the supervisors had been reprimanded, likewise the supervising authority of the 2 pharmacists are gonna suffer the same fate.
The last time, I reckon WKS did give a statement of something to an extent of being sorry that the incident happened, not an apology but still showing sympathy. A similar response might be expected, if the condition of Mrs Poh were to worsen. It remains KKH top priority to try and remedy the situation and if it were successful, then the response might be contrary to our expectations, but still would bring with it the sympathetic tone.
However, it should be noted, that at least an inquiry should be carried out to vet the safeguards that KKH have in place. It could have been a confluence of events that had led to this unfortunate incident. We wouldn’t know unless it had been carried out. Also good to reflect this in the parliament sitting. We had Eunice Olsen to ask the questions with regards to WSK. I wonder who would be civic-minded enough to broach this subject. Bearing in mind, some of the findings should not be reported due to the medical in confidence pertaining to KKH’s patients.
But it could have been as easily deduced to a single reason; us Singaporeans being too complacent. Why haven’t we learnt our previous lessons? When will we stop being complacent?
And if it were an honest mistake, (in the event our PM has extensively question our health minister and found out that it happened not because of the fault of the latter) there should not be a witch hunt, and move on. The COI would have probed and flushed out all the necessary safeguards and moved towards a resolution.
This incident though has serious ramifications, will nevertheless not bring about a decline in the standard of our health care and should not spook foreigners to pay their visits to our world class health care facilities.
And later on our 133 MSM will always to be there to drum up support and all will be well in our city.
Will it happen like this again?
Curious
well…hopefully she is punished enuff from above…that is she will not be able to sleep in peace with blood in hands…for the rest of her life!
If the KK CEO is wife of an opposition leader, for sure the PAP will make a big news and ask for resignation. Such is the pathetic-losser-mindset of the PAP.
This is a poor blog post to highlight. It make the fallacious suggestion that Mdm Ivy Lim Swee Lian is responsible for an accident but will not be held responsible because of her relation with Dr Ng Eng Hen. How is that fair to either of them?
@ opp,
Wife of opposition leader have slim chance of becoming CEO of KK or other stat boards.
She need not to resign from her post, but she needed to do some apologise to the victims and the nation for this incident to happen. And our Ministers should show some sympathy to the victims too.
How come when their own “PAP Brother” got burn and injure, state media amplify it until he is a hero and PAP Ministers go and visit him to show sympathy and encouragement to him. How about us Singaporean been the victims of this mishap, where are our Ministers who so call “Care for Singaporean”?
“Wife of opposition leader have slim chance of becoming CEO of XX or other stat boards.”
don’t play play. these institutions are staffed by talented people. don’t say that there is a peculiar pattern here ok ??????? don’t play play ok.
Uniquely in Singapore, will the leaders or heads escape any punishment or blame when they are at fault…
“SINGAPORE will not encourage a culture where ministers resign whenever things go wrong on their watch, whether or not they are actually to blame, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong”
Of course LHL will say that, because if that’s not the case, he will have to step down himself when so many things go wrong on his watch…
