  1. Thanks Martyn for this video in remembering the poor in our society, especially the elderly. These old folks have also contributed to our Nation Building in their younger days.

Sad to see them retiring so ungraciously in our First World. Either Kishore M is comfortably sitting at his Ivory Tower or he’s just ignoring the poor in our society altogether. Poverty has been eradicated? Please wake up from your Ivory Tower Mr Kishore M and take a drive or walk down to Middle Road, some parts of Chinatown to see for yourself before you made such comment.

    Great job Martyn.

  2. Our minister Vivian once said” How much do you to give them” Let’s see what will happen in the next election.

  3. thank you.

very often we forget about this group of people. the very ones who had helped to build our nation, and are now reduced to going thru our trash to earn their next feed.

  4. though we are educated and luckier than these old folks, unless we are wise and woke up now for coming election, sooner is our turn to be like them.

God will see to plight of these older people being ignored by esp highly educated and capable intelligent govenment civil servant for a judegement to come soon.

Mr Lim Swee Say should ask NTUC to provide some food vouchers for the poor and elderly, maybe he can dream up some jobs for the elderly workforce.

Dr Lily Neo should have pressed Dr Vivian further or use her own resources to set up a trust fund or NGO to help the poor.

  6. Martyn-you did hell of a great job on this short true film of life on the other side of midnight. I have a lump in my throat after the 14 minutes.

The pillars of society sadly reduced to destitute and neglected, unwanted and to the government a burden to society.

Those self-paid millionaire ministers live up in their ivory towers without a touch of true compassion to the poor senior citizens who at their twilight years still got to scavenge for their daily meals.

And Khaw Boon Wan wants all our old citizens to move to Johore Baru old folks home.

If S’pore can lose more than 40 billion dollars through the hands of Ho Ching from Temasek, is it too much just to take out 0.3 billion dollars (i.e. 300 million dollars only to build an old folks village for the homeless, destitutes and lonely old citizens to enjoy the simple life of their twilight years.

This is what 50 years of nation building has become. Only to the rich, the privilege, the elites and all the ministers, cronies, families, relatives.

The poor and penniless are discard like trash and leave to rot their lives away.

KISHORE M. spoke thru his arse when addressing the UN that Singapore has no poor and homeless citizens. Is he deceiving his own conscience??

He spoke from his ‘golden heart.’

Many of us live with a heavy heart seeing so many neglected poor old citizens in our midst of a first world nation.

I feel a great shame for our MOTHERLAND SINGAPORE.

Help must be given to Singaporeans who really deserve help and within a short period of them and not drag on the ground of thorough investigations. I am against a Welfare State-please see my earlier postings.

the present bunch of useless ruling govt would just ignore all these old folks by playing time and let them die a natural death in time to come so they just wash their hands off after all.

    Disappointed Citizen,
    [posting 40]

I suddenly realised, after reading your post, that the needy poor, unemployed n lowly paid handicap people etc,

    - DONT PAY TAXES,
    - SO THEY DONT CONTRIBUTE TO MP’s $17,000 .00 ALLOWANCE,
    - SO THEY ALSO DONT CONTRIBUTE TO ‘U KNOW WHO’ $1,000,000.00 n MORE SALARY.

COULD THAT BE THE REASONS WHY THEY DONT GET ‘OFFICIAL’ HELP?

U see recent Bt Timah flood, tens of millions poured in to elevate it, all rich tax payers there.

they have help build singapore into a modern day cosmopolitan city, where once again the whites can come to singapore to screw Asians both physically and metaphorically.

if they have known the final outcome of Lee’s PAP, many would have prefer to see singapore developed at a much slower pace.

    merdeka my a….

  13. Kudos to Martyn See! Its a disgraced for Kishore stating that poverty in Singapore has finally eradicated. Of course he lives in expensive house while the poor featuring in the video? Live is terrible living condition, unbearable to sleep also.
