YOG goes into the history books whether anyone participates or not. Importantly we get a chance to win in Olympics level the the US, Russian and Chinese teams do not want to participate.

SEA games is only within the few neighbours and we have hosted it a few times.

Given my govt love of media attention and face, which would they choose? YOG= money, SEA games? Honestly even TCS cannot really be bothered to show SEA games, what more about making money from it.

BTW i still call mediacorp TCS cause they look and sound the same

MCYS minister talked so much about our sporting nation and sporting excellence and we are going to have a $billion Sports Hub to top up all the talks!
As it is our sporting scene is nothing to crow about as compared to our neighbours. Take football for example,we have our S league for more than a decade and our footing standard still has nothing to show! We talked of playing in the World Cup final more than a decade ago. Are we any where near our target of 2010 final?
What we have to show in the world sporting arena all these years is only table-tennis.And this too can only be achieved by the imported talents!
We don’t seem to be able to tidy up our sporting backyard.
After the recent Olumpics, we have our very own table-tennis saga with our foreign coach. After the recent SEA games, we have the SAA and SSC saga.What the heck is going on?
When the top guns are busy in their ‘war’ against each other, where do they have the time and energy to guide and nurture the sportsmen and sportswomen?
It’s the responsibility of MCYS to come in and tidy up all this mess and is being long long over due!!!

Perhaps the PAPies are indirectly admitting they may feel castrated in addition to being spineless after the next GE which incidently is before the SEA games.

To me a freak election result is better than winning the first olympic gold medal.

Folks, please don’t get mislaid. Our original plan in accordance with the MCYS’s plan was to hold the SEA games as well as the YOG if every goes as per planned.
But unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances,known only to the Minister of MCYS,the Sports Hub was repeatedly delayed. ( he had said that he deliberately delay the project so as not to let the taxpayers spend a single cent more than is necessary!)
Owing to the delay in completion of the Sports Hub,they have no alternative but to
forego the SEA games and just to concentrate on YOG! The YOG was supposed to be held in the new Sports Hub, If I’m not mistaken.
So the whole episode hinges on the delayed completion of the Sports Hub full stop!
We all know that if the MIW wants to show off what they are capable of, you think they won’t??

I wonder what’s wrong with using the Grand Old Lady stadium for the SEA Games. The sporting spirit is more important than the venue. When I invite friends to my humble home, I make sure they are comfortable and have a good time, as best as I can. It does not mean I have to get a new and bigger home each I time I want to hold a get-together.
And lest we forget, the Grand Old Lady has seen the great sporting spectacle of the Malaysia Cup when over 60,000 Singaporeans delivered the Kallang Roar to help our team to sporting triumph.
A grand Sports Hub is no guarantee of a great sporting event. It may not even yield the golden harvest that we are yearning for.
I say, let’s just use the Grand Old Lady for the SEA Games and put more effort in building our sporting prowess and spirit.

Kelvin, as simple as that: the greater prestige that come with the Youth Olympics. And this guy (ng ser miang) a relative of famiLEE is in the central committee of the Olympics Council. (holding a high position which I couldn’t care two-oo hoots). I just care for the poor old folks of Singapore.

Between SEA Games and Youth Olympics, it is obvious to pick the later. Lame excuses are a mere distraction.

We have learned to live with so much distractions of the PAP. Are we not sick now after 50 years of first, true, then half-true and now total lies and lies and cover-ups. We will decide when voting comes.

singapore did not want to host the 2013 or 2015 sea games because there won’t be any more sea games in those years. don’t believe ask lyk.

Actually, Teo Ser Luck was credited for helping Singapore to win the YOG bid, thus he was promoted to parliamentary secretary for MCDYS. Guess who heads MCDYS.

A NEW Cabinet Secretary has been named to take over from Mr Lau Wah Ming, who is retiring after 40 years in the civil service.

Mr Tan Kee Yong, 52, will take up the post on Dec 28, the same day he becomes Secretary to the Prime Minister, a post which is currently also held by Mr Lau. Apart from his other duties, the Cabinet Secretary has traditionally also been the civil servant appointed by the Prime Minister to chair the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee as and when it is appointed.

Mr Lau chaired the committee that was appointed ahead of the General Election in 2006

It only takes 3 years to complete the new National Stadium…starting in Jan 2010 to 31-Dec-2012.

[That S$6.59-billion ResortsWorld@Sentosa started in Dec 2006 and is conpleting in December/Janaury, ready for "soft-opening by 1st hgalf of 2010]

Allowing 6 months delay due to icnremental weather and usual “cosntruction cock-ups”, SPorts Hub should be up and running by July 2013, in time for 2013 SEA Game.

Now, which businessman in his right mind will ever turn a profit withthis newly budgeted S$1.2-bilion “WHite Elephant”?

If you readers do recalled, that P-P-P S$1-bilion LNG Terminal was turned down by a French_Local JV as “commercial not viable” and PAP Government tookover this “Naitonal Project”.

Perhaps, if negotiation is at an impasse, then PAP Governmetn wil takeover by MArch 2010?
