“We are not here in this world to find elegant solutions, pregnant with initiative, or to serve the ways and modes of profitable progress. No, we are here to provide for all those who are weaker and hungrier, more battered and crippled than ourselves. That is our only certain good and great purpose on earth, and if you ask me about those insoluble economic problems that may arise if the top is deprived of their initiative, I would answer ‘To hell with them.’ The top is greedy and mean and will always find a way to take care of themselves. They always do.”
Michael Mackintosh Foot (23 July 1913 – 3 March 2010),
British Labour politician and writer who was
Member of Parliament from 1945 to 1955 and 1960 to 1992

I Salute You, Sir!
It’s SAD we do not have just such a politician here…
what we have are Businessmen…
I luv the part where he says to hell with them…
it reminds me of this other article I came across that said roughly the same thing here
http://dotseng.wordpress.com/2010/03/03/the-myth-that-drove-over-a-cliff-kishore-his-nonsense/
wonderful quote. Especially the last part… so true!
RESPECT!
Sigh, those scumbags/vampires in white are just the opposite!
Hard to come such meaningful and touching quote.
The quotes you find nowadays are usually about Becoming Millionairs / CEOs / Impressive Speakers / Motivated Persons etc…
A rare gem.
Mr. Michael Mackintosh Foot should be our MP! He single handedly will be able to trash all 82 useLEEss bootLEEkers of emperor LEE.

IMHO, it would be more accurate to say that “what we have are parasitic vampires”. The MIW and their related elites do not deserve the title of businessmen. None has shown their ability to create empires in real-world business, without the financial backing of GLCs or protective laws of GLCs monopolies.
Michael Foot would approve of our immigration policy – let those who are hungrier and poorer in, we Singaporeans are getting too fat and rich. Without foreign workers and immigrants (my forefathers are immigrants too), we are going to bleed internally with complacency. Seriously, how many foreign investors would want to come to Singapore with our expensive infranstructure and a bunch of workers who are nothing but complain kings and queens. Whichever party that you vote in would understand the wisdom of renewal through immigration.
